Job description

Mead & Hunt, a nationally recognized professional services consulting firm, is seeking a client focused problem-solver to join our collaborative and innovative water resources team. This civil engineer will serve as a technical leader for design of flood risk reduction, water conveyance, and dam/hydropower rehabilitation projects.
Responsibilities include:
  • Serves as project manager and/or project engineer on complex multi-discipline projects
  • Serves as a technical resource and/or mentor
  • Serves as engineer in charge to review, approve, and apply professional engineering seals to final plans and specifications on multiple projects concurrently
  • Establish and maintain client relations, leads marketing pursuits and/or acts as a client contact.
  • Assists with development of engineering agreements for projects
  • Responsible for schedules, work in progress, and timely completion of projects
  • Prepares forecast of workload for projects, coordinates and/or prepares pricing, budget estimating, and scoping for proposed projects
  • Prepares or directs preparation and modification of reports, specifications, plans, schedules, studies, permits and designs for projects
  • Develops probable construction cost estimates for projects
  • Responsible to the project manager and/or project team for quality system tasks as defined in the quality manual
  • Leads and/or assists with contract administration
  • Visits project site to monitor progress and other duties per the contract documents, as needed

The successful candidate must have:
  • A bachelor's degree (or higher) in civil or geological engineering from an accredited college or university
  • At least eight (8) years of relevant work experience
  • PE license in any state with the ability to obtain in CA within 12 months of start date

The ideal candidate will have any/all of the following:
  • At least four (4) years of experience with technical design and development of project plans and specifications
  • At least two (2) years of experience designing projects in Civil 3D
  • At least two (2) years of experience with project and/or construction management of relevant projects.
  • Knowledge of and experience with flood risk reduction design (levees, pump stations, canals, flood walls) and/or dams and hydropower (dam design or rehabilitation, hydropower plant design or rehabilitation) in California
  • Mentoring experience
  • Engineering support during construction or construction field experience
  • Water resources and/or hydropower project experience
  • USACE, DWR, flood control agencies, PG&E, local irrigation and reclamation districts and other water agency/district and utility client experience

Salary Range: $117,000 - $166,000 - Actual compensation may vary due to other factors such as: experience, skill set or location.
