Job description

Service Specialist - Electrolyzer Services

Position Summary


This position is responsible for coordinating performing services and preventative maintenance duties as well as troubleshooting, repair, and general maintenance for the electrolyzers at various customer sites. As such, this is a heavy travel position (up to 100%). This role requires excellent mechanical aptitude and a high degree of familiarity with industrial hydrogen systems and performance. This position also requires the ability to be on-call and to respond to urgent needs so that customer sites maintain hydrogen production around the clock. The ideal candidate should have the ability to communicate effectively among cross-functional departments with an emphasis on helping to improve electrolyzers system designs and resolve defects based upon field experience and data. This position is also critical to interface with customer stakeholders and exceed their expectations for service thereby furthering Plug Power's reputation as the leader in hydrogen fuel cell power solutions.


Core Duties and Responsibilities

  • Travel as needed to customer sites to perform service and preventative maintenance duties as well as troubleshooting, repair, and general maintenance primarily for electrolyzers and will also include other hydrogen systems as deployed by Plug Power.
  • Must be highly knowledgeable with the operation and troubleshooting of industrial hydrogen systems and components; experience with preventative as well as corrective maintenance is highly preferable.
  • Proven skill set as related to the construction, commissioning and operation of an industrial hydrogen but not limited to:
  • Safe operation of equipment
  • Controls ideology of systems
  • Electrical wiring schematics
  • Piping (high and low pressure equipment)
  • Equipment and material specs and maintenance
  • Environmental impact on equipment function and performance
  • Ability to diagnose system problems and troubleshoot
  • Designing system for optimum performance in considering all relevant factors and requirements
  • Ability to read and interpret drawings and P&IDs
  • Demonstrated ability to professionally and effectively interact with customers and external vendors; maintain a customer service focus at all times.
  • Must be able to operate independently with minimal supervision while achieving high quality results in work assignments.
  • Responsible for developing and overseeing the preventative maintenance program for all electrolyzer field equipment thereby ensuring reliability and customer satisfaction.
  • Monitor field equipment performance on an ongoing basis while recommending design enhancements and working to implement enhancements to maximize performance and reliability.
  • Continually engage with customers and solicit their input as related to the electrolyzer infrastructure and performance; address any concerns and also utilize feedback to provide design and operational suggestions.
  • Make a supreme focus upon safety in all facets of work and ensure that all relevant parties are knowledgeable regarding safe operation of electrolyzer equipment and infrastructure.
  • Be prepared to respond as needed to all field equipment repair needs and maintenance concerns in an urgent manner which may include travel on short notice to equipment sites.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned and required within role.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education and Experience

  • Associates degree or vocational degree in engineering technology or other relevant field of study
  • Will consider high school diploma along with 3+ years of relevant work experience in lieu of above degree requirement
  • Superior communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to travel in heavy volume and with short notice as needed (up to 100%)
  • High level of skill with mechanical systems installation, troubleshooting, and repair
  • Industrial hydrogen systems experience highly preferred
  • Ability to diagnose system failures and isolate root cause
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Supreme analytical abilities and data analysis skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office software

  • Excellent task-oriented follow-through

Pay Rate:

$27.50 - $40.00
