Job description

Hydro Power Technician โ€“ Northeast Operations

Work Location: Berlin, NH

Reporting to the Manager, Operations the Hydro Technician is required to conduct the safe, efficient and economical operation, monitoring and maintenance of Brookfield's hydroelectric generating stations and storages. The Hydro Technician is responsible for hands-on maintenance, repair and operation of turbine/generator systems, high voltage transmission and distribution, its related equipment, and minor troubleshooting.

Responsibilities

ยท Responsible for the operation, maintenance, and repair of turbines and associated equipment at Hydro facilities

ยท Perform gate changes as instructed, and record and report gate changes once completed. During periods of significant run-off, duties will include the close monitoring and reporting of conditions and instrument readings and related data collection

ยท Safely perform station and dam operations; start and stop units as required

ยท Perform routine maintenance on company machinery and equipment

ยท Identify and repair station hydraulic, electrical and mechanical systems, including analytical problem solving

ยท Work with and/or direct project contractors to repair identified maintenance/operational problems to improve unit availability and station uptime

ยท Monitor and report on equipment quality issues per factory requirements and company specifications from disassembly to commissioning

ยท Embrace the Brookfield safety culture

ยท Be available, as necessary, to work more than 5 days per week and for after hour "call-ins"

Requirements

ยท Ability to work independently or in a team environment and demonstrate initiative

ยท Experience with hydro dam, and station operations and hydro turbine generating units is preferred

ยท Experience with the electrical repair and maintenance of hydro turbine/generator systems, industrial electrical systems and related equipment is preferred and includes: electrical, mechanical, hydraulic as well as PLC programming and troubleshooting skills and ability to perform related essential functions of the job; Ability to read and understand electrical, hydraulic and mechanical drawings and schematics

ยท Knowledge of MS Office Suite, including MS Outlook

ยท Experience and applicable certificates for operating heavy equipment including cranes, manlifts, tractors are preferred

ยท DOT Class B License Preferred

Qualifications

ยท A two- or four-year degree in EET, Electrician certificate program

ยท Electrician or strong industrial electric experience preferred

ยท Knowledge of hydro station regulatory compliance and knowledge of related mechanical and electrical OSHA safety standards

ยท Troubleshooting skills and experience preferred

Hourly Rate: $30 - $38.00 per hour
Target Bonus: 5%
