About the Role: Prepare detailed engineering estimates, calculations, designs, technical reports, specifications, and construction documents for electric distribution, and fiber communication systems using computer-aided engineering and drafting tools. Apply engineering principles and sound technical judgment to develop reliable, cost-effective, and maintainable solutions while ensuring compliance with applicable codes, standards, and KUB engineering practices.
This position will work with internal and external customers to develop project specific estimates and designs. Coordination with multiple departments and groups may be required including external agencies to facilitate constructability options and solutions. Support project scope, schedules, budgets, equipment selection, material specifications, permitting, and project documentation while providing technical leadership throughout the project lifecycle. Perform field engineering, inspections, construction support, troubleshooting, and design modifications to ensure projects are constructed in accordance with engineering intent and quality standards. Participate in long-range capital improvement planning, system improvements, and storm response activities as required.
Qualifications
Physical Requirements:
This position is primarily sedentary and performed in an office environment however field visits and field activities may be required. Duties involve sitting or standing most of the time with occasional walking or standing. Field visits may include emergency response activities beyond normal business hours. The role may require occasional lifting, carrying, pushing, or pulling of items. Bending, stooping, or reaching may occasionally be required. Physical demands may vary by position and may occasionally exceed those described above.
Minimum Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field from an ABET accredited four-year college or university
  • One (1) to three (3) years of experience in related field
  • Advanced analytical and project management skills and strong written and oral communication, interpersonal, and team skills
  • Ability to work independently on multiple projects in a fast paced environment
  • Ability to work collaboratively with individuals at all levels in the organization in a team environment
  • Valid driver's license

Preferred Requirements:
  • Professional Engineer license in State of Tennessee or ability to obtain
  • Professional Engineer license in the State of Tennessee through comity
  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience in electrical engineering, preferably with an electric utility
  • .Experience with Microstation, AutoCAD, Cyme, ArcGIS, and/or ArcMap
  • Understanding of existing and new electric distribution technology and operations
