Job description

General Purpose: Responsible for operating crane (hydro, crawler, and lattice cranes) to hoist, move and place materials and drive piling
Work Schedule: Days and hours vary depending on the assigned project.
Responsibilities & Duties
  • Promote and comply with all Company and safety policies and procedures
  • Operate levers and pedals to raise, lower and rotate the boom and raise and lower load lines
  • Raise, lower and rotate boom or load by sight or according to signals from a helper
  • Observe rigging operations and safety of the load
  • Ensure safety procedures are adhered to at all times
  • Perform daily inspections of cranes
  • Monitor weather conditions and site conditions
  • Clean, maintain and lubricate equipment
  • Obtain any required permits
  • Crane operator should be responsible at all times when operating a crane
  • Crane operator should be versatile and have a cooperative attitude as they may be asked to do other jobs on construction sites when they are not operating a crane
  • Maintain a professional appearance
  • Other duties as assigned by Foreman or Superintendent

Required Education
  • High school diploma or equivalent GED. Applicable certifications required

Required Experience
  • Minimum of 6 months experience, one year certificate from a technical school or an equivalent combination of education and experience

Required Skills/Licenses/Certifications
  • Valid driver's license to operate motor vehicles.
  • Certified crane operator certification
  • Read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals
  • Add and subtract two digit numbers and multiply and divide with 10's and 100's, ability to perform these operations using unit weight measurements and volumes.
  • Apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written or oral form
  • Workers should be able to work within precise standards of accuracy and follow set procedures and standards
