Job description

From Fivetranโ€™s founding until now, our mission has remained the same: to make access to data as simple and reliable as electricity. With Fivetran, customer data arrives in their warehouses, canonical and ready to query, with no engineering or maintenance required. Weโ€™re proud that more organizations continue to leverage our technology every day to become truly data-driven.

About Us

Fivetran and dbt Labs are bringing together two industry-leading companies with a shared mission: helping organizations unlock the full value of their data. Together, weโ€™re delivering the data infrastructure layer that helps organizations move, transform, and trust their data โ€” from the moment data moves, through every transformation, to the context teams and AI systems rely on. Fivetran helps organizations automate data movement across the systems, clouds, engines, and tools they rely on. dbt Labs pioneered analytics engineering, helping teams transform data into reliable, governed insights. Together, we support thousands of organizations as they build a trusted foundation for analytics, AI, and better business decisions.

As we bring our teams and technology together, weโ€™re building on the strengths of both companies while continuing to deliver the products and experiences our customers know and trust. Itโ€™s an exciting time to join us: weโ€™re creating a company with the scale, talent, and technology to help more organizations put their data to work with greater speed, confidence, and impact. During this transition period, you may see references to both Fivetran and dbt Labs throughout our recruiting process as we integrate our teams, systems, and career sites.

About the Role

Fivetran is building data pipelines to power the modern data stack for thousands of companies.

We're looking for a Lead Company Operations Manager to join the COO Office, the team responsible for setting the pulse of the company โ€” developing our strategies, holding leaders accountable for executing them, and taking on the cross-functional work that lacks a clear owner. In this role you will own the mechanics behind our board meetings, help drive the operating rhythm that keeps the business focused, and shape how we use AI to run company operations.

The work is deliberately diverse. One week you're building the narrative and data behind a board deck with the executive leadership team; the next you're standing up a new operating cadence, or scoping a special project that arrived without a brief, an owner, or a definition of done. You'll work directly with stakeholders at every level across Product, GTM, Finance, and Engineering โ€” from individual contributors who own the underlying work to the executives accountable for it โ€” and you'll be expected to bring structure to problems that show up without any.

This is a full-time position based out of our Denver office. Our hybrid work model offers a blend of remote flexibility and in-person collaboration, including two days in the office each week to connect and build as a team.

This position reports to the Chief of Staff of the COO Office.

What Youโ€™ll Do
  • Strategy Development
    • Lead the design and delivery of semi-annual Company Kickoffs, translating annual goals and mid-year changes into a clear, credible narrative for the whole company.
    • Support the annual planning process, coordinating inputs from department leaders into aligned company goals, strategies, and plans.
    • Prepare quarterly ELT Strategy Days, including topic selection, pre-reads, facilitation materials, and follow-through on decisions.
    • Synthesize scattered inputs from executives into a single, decision-ready artifact โ€” a doc, model, or deck that moves a conversation forward.
  • Strategy Execution
    • Own end-to-end preparation of board materials: build the storyline, partner with Finance and department leaders on the underlying data, and manage review cycles with the ELT.
    • Maintain a reliable source of truth for board and executive reporting metrics so numbers reconcile across Finance, GTM, and Product reporting.
    • Drive the company's operating rhythm โ€” Weekly Business Reviews, Company QBRs, and Company and ELT OKR tracking โ€” and flag when performance is off track early enough to act.
    • Track executive action items to closure, working with department operations teams to remove blockers rather than just report status.
    • Improve the rhythm itself: identify cadences that are duplicative, low-signal, or consuming more executive time than they return, and propose changes.
  • Special Projects
    • Take ownership of ambiguous, cross-functional initiatives assigned to the COO Office, from initial framing through delivery.
    • Structure new work quickly with a clear charter: problem statement, success measures, decision rights, stakeholders, and timeline.
    • Drive projects to measurable outcomes without formal authority, influencing peers and executives across functions.
    • Transition completed initiatives to a permanent owner when necessary, with the documentation and mechanisms needed to sustain them.
  • AI-Enabled Company Operations
    • Build and maintain AI workflows that automate recurring operational work โ€” meeting prep, action item tracking, metric summaries, reporting pulls, and first-draft communications.
    • Prototype quickly, measure time saved or quality gained, and retire what doesn't work.
    • Document and share reusable AI workflows so the rest of the COO Office and partner teams can adopt them.
    • Set practical guardrails: verified source data, clear human review before anything reaches an executive or board audience.
Skills Weโ€™re Looking For
  • Proven experience (5+ years) in program management, business operations, strategy, or chief of staff roles, supporting stakeholders at all levels, up to and including senior executives.
  • Systems thinker โ€” you look for the underlying mechanism, not the one-off fix, and you design processes others can run without you.
  • Owner mentality with a high tolerance for ambiguity; you take unclear requests, define the problem, and drive to a positive outcome without waiting to be told how.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication, with a track record of tailoring the same message for an individual contributor, a department leader, and a board audience.
  • Comfortable with data โ€” able to work in spreadsheets, run ad hoc analysis, pressure-test numbers from other teams, and translate results into a clear recommendation.
  • Experience with program management tools and methodologies, and a demonstrated ability to run multiple concurrent workstreams without losing detail.
  • Sound judgment and discretion handling confidential board, financial, and organizational information.
Required AI competencies
  • Use conversational AI systems (like Claude, ChatGPT, and internal chatbots) to research, author, review, and synthesize operational artifacts such as board narratives, process documents, and executive updates.
  • Build repeatable AI workflows โ€” prompts, skills, or agents โ€” rather than treating AI as a one-off drafting tool.
  • Evaluate AI output critically, including knowing when the task calls for human judgment instead.
Bonus Skills
  • Experience preparing board materials at a private, VC- or PE-backed company.
  • Experience supporting post-merger integration or another period of significant organizational change.
  • Familiarity with BI tooling (Looker, Omni) and basic SQL.
  • Light scripting or low-code automation experience for building internal tools.
  • Prior experience in B2B SaaS, with working fluency in ARR, NRR, pipeline, and margin.

Perks and Benefits
  • 100% employer-paid medical insurance*
  • Generous paid time-off policy (PTO), plus paid sick time, inclusive parental leave policy, holidays (including a year end Global Week of Rest), and volunteer days off
  • RSU stock grants*
  • Professional development and training opportunities
  • Company virtual happy hours, free food, and fun team-building activities
  • Monthly cell phone stipend
  • Access to an innovative mental health support platform that offers personalized care and resources in areas such as: therapy, coaching, and self-guided mindfulness exercises for all covered employees and their covered dependents.
