JOB DESCRIPTION

The Bartender at Hyatt Place Milwaukee Downtown plays a pivotal role in delivering exceptional service to our guests by preparing and serving a variety of beverages, including cocktails, beer, and wine, in a welcoming and hospitable environment. This position requires a commitment to ensuring superior guest satisfaction while maintaining operational efficiency and promoting sales.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Availability & Flexibility: Able to work rotating shifts, including weekends, nights, and overtime as needed.
  • Beverage Preparation: Prepare and serve cocktails, wine, beer, and other beverages according to established recipes and standards.
  • Guest Interaction: Take guest orders, provide recommendations, and upselling products to maximize sales opportunities. Create personalized suggestions based on guest preferences.
  • Menu Knowledge: Possess a thorough understanding of the menu, including all food and drink items, to assist guests and make informed suggestions.
  • Espresso & Starbucks Beverages: Operate the espresso machine and prepare all Starbucks beverages in accordance with standard recipes.
  • Customer Service Excellence: Interact with guests in a courteous and friendly manner, ensuring an outstanding guest experience.
  • Bar Setup & Cleanliness: Set up the bar, including liquor, glasses, silverware, ice, and garnishes. Maintain cleanliness of bar areas and perform general sanitation duties.
  • Order Entry: Accurately enter orders into the MICROS system for proper reporting and order tracking.
  • Cash Handling: Count and verify cash bank at the beginning and end of each shift.
  • Inventory Management: Report missing or low-stock items to the F&B team to ensure consistency in stock levels.
  • Feedback & Resolution: Regularly check on guests to gather feedback on their experience and resolve any concerns promptly.
  • Side Work: Complete side work at the end of each shift and communicate any issues to F&B leads.
  • Uniform & Appearance: Adhere to the uniform standards and maintain a high level of personal grooming and cleanliness.
  • Safety & Security: Ensure compliance with safety and security policies, including monitoring guest behavior, preventing underage drinking, and addressing intoxication issues.
  • Other Duties: Perform other related duties as assigned by management.
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods (up to 90% of the shift).
  • Frequent bending, twisting, reaching, pushing, and pulling.
  • Occasional lifting of supplies (up to 50 lbs).
  • Ability to use a computer, keyboard, printer, and office equipment.
  • Ability to calculate figures such as discounts, taxes, and percentages.
  • Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong multitasking and organizational skills.
  • Outgoing personality with a passion for customer service and upselling.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent work experience required.
  • Previous customer service or hotel experience required. Hyatt experience is a plus.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • BASSET (Beverage Alcohol Seller and Server) certification preferred.
  • Proficiency in using computer systems such as Micros.
