Job Overview:
Insight Contracting is seeking an experienced Master Mechanic (HVAC) to join our team. The ideal candidate will hold a Masterโ€™s License in Boone County and the City of Columbia and have a strong background in performing HVAC services in both commercial and residential settings. In this role, you will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of HVAC systems, ensuring compliance with industry regulations and providing exceptional service to our tenants.
As a key member of our team, you'll work with minimal supervision, bringing your expertise to a variety of projects while maintaining a high standard of safety and quality.
Key Responsibilities:
  • HVAC System Maintenance: Install, maintain, troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair HVAC systems and equipment for both commercial and residential properties.
  • Ductwork Fabrication: Fabricate, modify, and install ductwork and ventilation components to meet system needs.
  • System Inspection & Compliance: Inspect HVAC systems to ensure proper operation and compliance with City of Columbia and OSHA/EPA regulations.
  • Refrigerant Handling: Ensure safe and compliant handling of refrigerants, in line with EPA guidelines.
  • Thermostat Repair: Troubleshoot, repair, and replace thermostats and related components.
  • Component Replacement: Identify and install replacement parts in furnaces, exterior condensers, and other HVAC system components.
  • Inventory Management: Keep a clean and organized inventory in company storage and vehicles, ensuring tools and supplies are readily available.
  • Work Order Troubleshooting: Respond to work orders from tenants, providing troubleshooting assistance both over the phone and in-person.
  • On-Call Services: Provide emergency on-call services as part of our Emergency Maintenance Standards.
  • Unit Turn Assistance: Complete HVAC tasks within deadlines during unit turns.
  • Supply Management: Assist in ordering maintenance supplies while staying within the project budget.
  • Safety Protocols: Adhere to safety standards and use Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) when necessary.
  • Time Tracking: Maintain accurate records of work performed through a service-tracking application.
  • Tracking Protocols: Adhere to and actively promote company tracking protocols and procedures, including using data for billing confirmation, emergency response optimization, safe-driving habits, and recording driving data in case of an incident.
  • Team Collaboration: Work with other technicians to improve overall maintenance operations and minimize callbacks.
  • Communication: Effectively communicate with management, tenants, and other technicians to ensure smooth operations.

Other Duties: Perform other tasks as assigned by the supervisor or management.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Driverโ€™s License: A valid driverโ€™s license and corporate-insurable driving record.
  • Education: High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Licensure: Must hold a Masterโ€™s License in Boone County and the City of Columbia.
  • Experience: 2+ years of HVAC experience in a residential, commercial, or industrial setting.
  • Mini-Split Knowledge: Familiarity with mini-split systems is a plus.
  • Physical Requirements: Ability to grasp, lift, maneuver, rotate, and use various trades tools and equipment. Must be able to lift and carry heavy objects (50-80 lbs.).

Work Environment: Must be comfortable working in varying environmental conditions, including hot or cold environments and occasionally in wet conditions.
Flexibility: Ability to work rotating shifts and be available for on-call emergency services.
