About the Role

Putnam Mechanical is hiring an experienced HVAC/R Service Technician to service commercial customers throughout the Sarasota/Bradenton area.


This is a true service technician role, not a sales-driven position. We are looking for a skilled mechanic who can troubleshoot, diagnose, repair, and maintain commercial HVAC and refrigeration equipment. The right person will be dependable, professional with customers, and able to work independently in the field.


Our technicians work on a variety of commercial systems, including walk-in coolers, walk-in freezers, reach-in coolers, ice machines, refrigeration systems, and light commercial HVAC equipment.

What You’ll Do

As an HVAC/R Service Technician, you will:


Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair commercial HVAC and refrigeration equipment

Service walk-in coolers, walk-in freezers, reach-in coolers, ice machines, and related refrigeration systems

Perform preventative maintenance and identify needed repairs

Communicate clearly and professionally with customers and the service team

Complete service tickets, notes, photos, and documentation accurately

Maintain company vehicle, tools, and equipment in a professional manner

Follow company safety procedures and industry standards

Participate in an on-call rotation as needed

What We’re Looking For

Qualified candidates should have:


3+ years of HVAC/R service experience preferred

Commercial refrigeration experience strongly preferred

Ability to troubleshoot and repair equipment independently

EPA certification preferred

Valid driver’s license

Ability to pass required background, driving record, and drug screening requirements

Strong work ethic, reliability, and communication skills

Ability to service customers throughout the Sarasota/Bradenton area
