Master HVAC Mechanic

The Opportunity
We are seeking an experienced Master HVAC Technician. This position requires an advanced skill level with performing installation and start-up of equipment with the ability to troubleshoot and repair applied HVAC equipment on job sites. The Master HVAC Technician is responsible for depot maintenance and repair, along with customer education. An ideal candidate will be customer service oriented and work well with others. The position requires a high level of correspondence with Project Managers, Service Coordinators and customers.
Responsibilities
  • Performs installation and start-up of equipment with the ability to troubleshoot and repair applied HVAC equipment on job sites, including customer training.
  • Performs depot maintenance, testing, repair and customer education on all applied equipment.
  • Performs live circuit troubleshooting of applied equipment up to 1000 tons.
  • Provides remote technical support for applied equipment.
  • Performs job site walks to support equipment sales.
  • Commission low temperature applications.
  • Ability to install and commission water-cooled chiller projects.
  • Ability to install and commission advanced air-cooled chiller projects using multiple pumps and heat exchangers.
  • Ability to plan and install cold storage systems using air-cooled chillers and air-handlers.
  • Ability to layout slip stream projects using multiple chillers to provide an out of design TD requirement.

The Required Profile
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Must have valid driver's license with good driving record
  • Must have current HVAC certification and OSHA 10 Training plus 5-15 years' experience working as a Service Technician in a commercial environment
  • Previous experience of 5+ years in chiller/HVAC maintenance, mechanical engineering, or other related fields.
  • Electrical knowledge required and EPA Certification Preferred (i.e. HVAC Journeyman, Boiler Operator, Gas Installer, etc.)
  • Familiarity with manufacturing designs or schematics.
  • Strong problem solving and critical thinking skills.
  • Ability to prioritize and multitask.
  • Good analytical skills, attention to detail, and ability to train junior technicians.
  • Excellent customer service skills with desire to exceed customer expectations.
  • Ability to work independently in a timely manner, making sure job is done correctly the first time.
  • Operating knowledge of Microsoft office software and working proficiency with handheld computer (i.e. Smartphone, iPad)
  • Ability to work in diverse conditions including but not limited to mechanical equipment rooms with exposure to noisy operating equipment, exposure to extreme weather conditions, risk of electrical shock (high voltage), climbing/working at elevated heights, etc.
  • Must be able to climb, crawl, stoop, kneel and must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 75 pounds
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and balance requirements of multiple and varied duties

Environmental Requirements
Will be required to work in a field environment, multiple customer sites on a daily basis.
Physical Demands
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to operate computer keyboard reach with hands and arms. The employee frequently is required to stand, walk, and sit. The employee is continually required to climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 75 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
