IAP World Services, an Intrepid Global Solutions company, is a recognized leader in Facilities Management and Operations in support of Defense, Intelligence, and National Security missions
Under a major Intelligence Community contract, IAP operates and maintains facilities, systems, and associated grounds across Virginia and Maryland. Services provided include comprehensive facility operations; project management for renovations, minor construction, and major equipment repairs; engineering, construction, and operations support; custodial and grounds maintenance services; environmental, safety, and occupational health support; food services; motorpool and logistics operations; and physical and technical security services.
The HVAC Specialist is responsible for the installation, inspection, maintenance and troubleshooting of industrial HVAC equipment such as boilers, chillers, and light commercial units. This job requires theoretical knowledge of air conditioning and the production of chilled water, as well as practical mechanical and electrical understanding.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
  • Coordinates and performs inspections on HVAC systems and components (e.g., heating units, building exhaust fans, ventilation units, etc.) to evaluate condition, identify necessary repairs, and recommend preventive maintenance.
  • Perform installations of HVAC equipment and systems and monitors repairs on systems and/or components (e.g., pumps, motors, air handlers, fan coils, piping, etc.).
  • Coordinates with HVAC Lead and/or Trade Shop Supervisor on completing projects and work orders efficiently.
  • Diagnoses cause of problems and/or failures in HVAC systems for the purpose of identifying equipment and/or systems repair and/or replacement needs.
  • Tracks performance of routine and preventive maintenance to ensure the availability of HVAC systems.
  • Prepares written reports (work order status, activity logs, etc.) for documenting activities and/or conveying information.
  • Requests equipment and supplies to maintain correct inventory amounts and ensure availability of items required to complete installations and/or repairs.
  • Responds to emergency situations during or after hours to resolve immediate safety concerns.
  • Performs other duties as requested.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
  • High School diploma or GED.
  • Must have at least six (6) years of HVAC experience.

LICENSE & CERTIFICATIONS:
  • Journeyman HVAC License required
  • CFC/HFC certification preferred

KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS:
  • Must be skilled in the use of hand and power tools common to trade.
  • Ability to interpret and apply codes, blueprints, wiring diagrams and engineering drawings is required.
  • Must have knowledge of operation / installation of a variety of complete HVAC systems / equipment.
