Job description

Zachary Piper Solutions is currently seeking an HVAC Engineer to support a client program based in Orlando, FL. This position is a full-time role that will be onsite. As an HVAC Engineer, you will play a critical role in the design, development, validation, and testing of advanced chilled-water HVAC systems, supporting complex engineering projects within industrial, military, and mission-critical environments.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design and support testing of chilled-water HVAC systems.
  • Support HVAC design efforts involving hydronic/chilled-water cooling and forced-air distribution systems.
  • Develop, review, and modify HVAC system designs using SolidWorks and/or Revit.
  • Perform HVAC design validation, system testing, and performance evaluation.
  • Apply HVAC engineering principles and relevant ASHRAE standards throughout the design lifecycle.
  • Coordinate HVAC design requirements with multidisciplinary engineering teams.
  • Evaluate system performance and implement design modifications to optimize functionality and efficiency.
  • Provide technical expertise and engineering support throughout design, testing, and integration activities.
  • Support engineering documentation, design reviews, and technical presentations.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure compliance with customer and project requirements.
  • This position focuses on engineering design and testing and will not be responsible for physical HVAC installation activities.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, HVAC Engineering, or related discipline.
    • Equivalent experience may be considered in lieu of a degree (7-10+ years of relevant HVAC engineering experience).
  • Strong HVAC engineering specialization.
  • Hands-on experience with chiller and chilled-water HVAC systems.
  • Demonstrated HVAC system design and testing experience.
  • Experience beyond installation, maintenance, or technician-only roles.
  • Proficiency working in a CAD design environment.
  • Experience using SolidWorks and/or Revit.
  • Knowledge of hydronic cooling systems and forced-air distribution systems.
  • Ability to work fully onsite in Orlando, FL.
  • Strong understanding of HVAC design principles, engineering calculations, and system performance analysis.
Desired Skills:
  • Professional Engineer (PE) License, preferably Mechanical Engineering with a strong HVAC design background.
  • ASHRAE Certified HVAC Designer (CHD) certification.
  • Strong knowledge of ASHRAE standards and best practices.
