Job description

Responsible for the Service, Repair, and Maintenance of all Pulama Lanai's Mechanical, HVAC & Refrigeration Equipment as it pertains to its Commercial Facilities, Residential Properties, and the greater Pulama Lanai Company and its Affiliate Companies.  

Compensation:

$35.00 - $45.00/hour (non-exempt)

Reporting Relationship:

Reports To:      Director of Faciltiies Maintenance

Supervises:      In future, will supervise In-House HVAC Technicians, and Refrigeration Technicians.

Collaborates:    With current and future In-House HVAC and Refrigeration Technicians, as well as Outside   Contractors and Vendors.

Qualification/Requirements:
  • Universal HVAC Technician License.

  • Able to understand the mechanical refrigeration process of various equipment, such as DX units, chillers, and commercial retail equipment.

  • Able to do Electrical, Pipe fitting, and other Trade Work that pertains to Mechanical, HVAC, and Refrigeration Equipment in general.

  • Able to read and interpret various wiring diagrams, schematics, and blueprints.

  • Able to work alone without supervision to see tasks through to completion.

  • Able to supervise and train other technicians within the current & future team.

Communication Skills:

  • Communicates with others on operational matters.

  • Requires verbal communication skills, with ability to follow oral and written instructions.

  • Requires relating to people in a friendly and professional manner.

  • Effectively communicates opinions and extrapolations of information collected and synthesized/analyzed.

  • Resolves conflicts that may arise because of disagreements between employees, between employees and customers, or with the public.

Technical Skills:

  • Maintain and repair electronic controls for Mechanical/HVAC/Refrigeration.

  • Interpret technical data such as pressures, temperatures, and flow rates for various equipment.

  • Perform system evacuation and recharge refrigerants in accordance with manufacturer specifications and EPA regulations, ensuring proper vacuum levels, leak testing, and accurate refrigerant measurement for optimal system performance

Required Work Cards/Certifications:
  • Valid Hawaii Driver's License and successful review of Motor Vehicle Record
  • Licensed Universal HVAC Technician in State of Hawaii.
  • In Future, to obtain any specific training, or certifications that are required by an equipment manufacture for maintenance, repairs, and service.
     

Physical Requirements:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk; hear;  stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee is occasionally required to sit.  The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distant vision and color vision.

  • Implementation of inspections and conducting preventive maintenance plans for Mechanical, HVAC, and Refrigeration Equipment.

  • Diagnosing & Troubleshooting.

  • Installing of new and or used equipment as needed. 

  • Identify needs and risks as it pertains to HVAC/Refrigeration efficiencies and operations.

  • Respond to "trouble calls" as needed during regular scheduled times, evenings, and weekends if needed. 

  • Preform work tasks in various environments and conditions.

  • Problem solving.
