Volunteer Services Coordinatorย 
For one year, get paid to build sustainable solutions in a community, gain valuable hands-on experience and prepare for your future. This full-time AmeriCorps service position offers a great opportunity to make an impact in the lives of others while building your own knowledge and skillset. ย 
AmeriCorps National members serve the community in direct service and capacity building activities.
What will you do?ย 
The volunteer services coordinator helps recruit, train, schedule and recognize volunteers while growing the volunteer base and advancing individual and group partnerships. Market within the community to recruit new volunteers. Develop new events and opportunities for volunteers to engage with the mission of Habitat for Humanity.
Typically serve Tuesday - Saturday to support work on the build site.ย 
Recruit and schedule volunteers for construction, office, ReStore, deconstruction, family services and special events opportunities.ย 
Assist with all aspects of volunteer management including orientations, maintenance of database, volunteer tracking and follow-up.ย 
Work with construction staff to ensure successful volunteer build days - signing volunteers in, providing orientation and safety briefings, helping put away tools with volunteers at the end of the day and ordering necessary volunteer supplies.ย 
Develop and/or revise volunteer recruitment, management and recognition tools.
This position will focus on volunteer services aspects of Habitat affiliate operations.

Activities and attractions: The National Capitol area offers many unique local attractions that are free of charge, such as the Smithsonian museums and zoo, as well as tours of our nation's landmarks like the White House, Capitol building, war memorials, and National Monument. If you are a history buff, this location is perfect for you because you can view historical relics, such as the United States Constitution and Declaration of Independence, which are housed in the National Archives building. Washington D.C. and Northern Virginia also boast lots of great outdoor activities from hiking nearby trails to paddle boating in the Tidal basin and biking paths that extend all the way from the city to the suburbs of Virginia. Last, this area is home to many different cultures as people from all over the world move to this area; therefore, there is lots of delicious cuisine to try and diverse groups of people to meet.
Unique projects: AmeriCorps Volunteer Services Coordinators will be able to help us prepare for new campaigns like Interfaith Build. We have not hosted this build before as an affiliate, so we will utilize this position to help build relationships with various community groups and individuals who may be interested in participating in this campaign. Then, this position will also help us ensure that all participants have a valuable experience.
When will you serve?ย 
Start dates are flexible and based on this location's availability. Talk to the hiring manager for this position about start dates during your interview process. The start date will be 4-6 weeks from receiving an offer and no earlier than September 2026.
