Intake & Adoption Counselor

Humane Society for Hamilton County Starting Pay: $16.00 per hour

The Humane Society for Hamilton County is hiring an Intake & Adoption Counselor to help guide adopters, support pet owners, process intakes, reunite lost pets, and create an exceptional experience for every guest who walks through our doors. This role is perfect for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment, brings strong customer service skills, and wants to make a meaningful impact every single day.

What Youโ€™ll Do

In this role, you will:

  • Welcome guests and direct them to the right area of the building
  • Answer phones, return messages, and respond to emails in a timely manner
  • Pre-approve adoption applications and help match adopters with the right animals
  • Finalize adoption paperwork and guide customers through the process
  • Process intake paperwork with compassion and professionalism
  • Support lost-and-found reunification efforts
  • Educate the public about animal welfare and shelter services
  • Enter and manage accurate records in PetPoint and related systems
  • Process donations and assist with document organization
  • Reconcile cash drawers and credit card totals at the end of the day
  • Keep public-facing spaces clean, welcoming, and organized
  • Work closely with other departments to ensure smooth daily operations
