Immediate need for a talented HR Leave of Absence & Accommodations Specialist | FMLA / ADA. This is a 06+ Months Contract opportunity with long-term potential and is located in Raleigh, NC (Hybrid). Please review the job description below and contact me ASAP if you are interested.

Pay Range: $40 - $49/hour. Traveler benefits as per agency package. (Benefits vary by vendor and assignment.)
Key Responsibilities:

  • Serve as a subject matter expert on Leave of Absence and Accommodations policies, processes, case practices, and regulatory requirements.
  • Manage and advise on complex and escalated leave, disability, accommodation, and return-to-work cases.
  • Support the ADA interactive process, including documentation review, employee and manager consultation, solution exploration, and outcome communication.
  • Apply knowledge of FMLA, ADA, state and local leave laws, disability programs, and accommodation requirements to individual employee situations.
  • Partner with employees and people leaders to explain leave and accommodation requirements, processes, options, and next steps.
  • Maintain detailed, accurate, confidential, and legally defensible case documentation.
  • Document case rationale, risk considerations, decisions, communications, and interactive-process activities.
  • Draft complex employee and manager communications that may require review by Legal or Employee Relations.
  • Provide guidance to Leave & Accommodations Specialists regarding case routing, documentation, escalation criteria, policy interpretation, and standard work.
  • Coach and mentor team members to improve case quality, consistency, compliance, and employee experience.
  • Partner with HR, Legal, Employee Relations, Benefits, Payroll, Risk, HR Shared Services, third-party administrators, and business leaders to resolve complex matters.
  • Support case audits, documentation reviews, compliance assessments, and process adherence activities.
  • Identify process gaps and lead practical process improvement and standardization initiatives.
  • Help develop and maintain SOPs, templates, knowledge articles, training materials, and case guidance.
  • Recognize high-risk, legally sensitive, ambiguous, or precedent-setting situations and escalate appropriately.
Key Requirements and Technology Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree with 5+ years of relevant experience, or Master's degree with 3+ years of relevant experience.
  • Progressive experience in Leave of Absence, Disability Management, Workplace Accommodations, Benefits, Employee Relations, HR Operations, or HR Shared Services.
  • Hands-on experience with leave administration and complex employee cases.
  • Strong knowledge of FMLA and ADA/ADAAA.
  • Experience with workplace accommodations and the ADA interactive process.
  • Understanding of federal, state, and local leave requirements.
  • Experience handling sensitive or escalated employee matters.
  • Strong case documentation and case-management skills.
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment when dealing with complex, sensitive, or ambiguous situations.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to communicate complex policies and regulatory requirements to employees, managers, and HR stakeholders.
  • Experience working with confidential employee information.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Experience with Workday and ServiceNow.
  • Experience with HRIS, case-management, payroll, benefits, or leave-management platforms.
  • Experience supporting disability, STD, LTD, workers' compensation, or return-to-work programs.
  • Experience partnering with Legal and Employee Relations.
  • Experience coaching or mentoring HR/Leave Specialists.
  • Experience developing SOPs, knowledge articles, training materials, and standard work.
  • HR or leave-related certification such as PHR, SPHR, CLMS, CEBS, or CPDM.
