HR Generalist
Summary: Bridge Defense seeks a highly motivated and detail-oriented HR Generalist to support daily human resources operations within a growing defense technology organization. This role will support employee lifecycle activities, HR compliance, reporting, recruiting operations, onboarding and offboarding, policy administration, and employee engagement initiatives. The ideal candidate is organized, proactive, and comfortable operating in a fast-paced environment supporting technical, engineering, and cleared staffing requirements.
This position will support Bridge Defense's Washington, D.C./Arlington, Virginia office and will work closely with leadership, employees, recruiting teams, and external partners to ensure an exceptional employee experience while maintaining compliance with applicable employment requirements.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Human Resources
  • Support day-to-day HR operations, including employee records, HRIS updates, documentation management, and employee inquiries.
  • Support unemployment insurance (UI) claim responses as needed, including gathering supporting documentation, preparing responses, and coordinating with applicable state agencies or third-party administrators.
  • Assist with HR reporting initiatives by collecting, analyzing, and maintaining workforce data to support HR metrics, organizational decision-making, and leadership reporting.
  • Maintain accurate employee records and ensure documentation aligns with company policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Support development, implementation, and maintenance of HR policies, procedures, and employee communications.
  • Assist with HR reporting, workforce metrics, compliance reporting, and organizational data analysis.
  • Maintain state employment compliance requirements, including state job boards, required postings, and employment documentation.
  • Assist with employee engagement activities, company events, recognition programs, and culture initiatives.
  • Provide administrative support for HR projects and process improvement initiatives.
  • Support compliance efforts related to EEO, OFCCP, affirmative action, government contracting requirements, and employment regulations.

Recruiting and Onboarding
  • Support recruiting efforts for engineering, service, administrative, and cleared staffing requirements.
  • Assist with candidate screening, interview scheduling, applicant tracking, and recruiting coordination.
  • Partner with hiring managers to support staffing needs and ensure efficient candidate experience.
  • Support university engagement initiatives, including career fairs, internship programs, campus outreach, and talent pipeline development.
  • Coordinate employee onboarding and offboarding processes, including documentation completion, system access coordination, and required compliance activities.

Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in human resources, Business Administration, or related field or associate's degree with 4 years relative work experience.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience supporting human resources operations.
  • Experience with onboarding, offboarding, employee records, HR administration, and compliance activities.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and appropriately handle sensitive employee information.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow established processes.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and HR information systems.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with employees, leadership, and recruiting teams.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience supporting federal contractors or government contracting environments.
  • Familiarity with OFCCP, EEO, affirmative action, and federal contractor compliance requirements.
  • Experience with HRIS systems and HR reporting/analytics.
  • Experience supporting recruiting efforts, including technical or cleared recruiting.
  • Experience responding to unemployment insurance claims or employment verification requests.
  • SHRM-CP, PHR, or progress toward HR certification preferred.
