Job Description:
Job Title: UI/UX Designer III
Location: Remote (Ohio, US)
Length: 6 months
Pay range: $46-$49
We are seeking a Senior User Experience (UX) Designer who is passionate about leading and applying a user-centered approach to product development. This role leverages research insights to design web and mobile solutions that support K-12 curriculum experiences through close collaboration with cross-functional partners including business stakeholders, content and digital strategy, learning science, research and analytics, accessibility-focused product management, and engineering teams.
A Continuous Discovery framework is foundational to this role, emphasizing collaboration with research partners to conduct human-centered design activities and produce high-quality, accessible design deliverables.
The organization is driven by a mission to unlock the full potential of each learner by delivering instructional materials and digital experiences that are intuitive, engaging, efficient, and effective-grounded in research and best practices.
Detailed Description
You are a design professional operating at the intersection of empathy and technology. In this role, you will develop thoughtful design solutions that balance business objectives, technical constraints, and user needs. Your work will focus on information architecture, user flow design, and interaction design to support the delivery of high-quality, accessible, and highly usable user experiences.
You will independently manage UX responsibilities within an assigned workstream while collaborating closely with Technical Product Managers, Project Managers, and Engineering partners. You will also work alongside a design strategist and/or lead designer to align with a broader platform strategy and long-term vision.
This role operates within Agile product teams, where you will champion human-centered design principles and help shape design practices and processes that integrate effectively with Agile methodologies.
Key Responsibilities
You will be expected to:
  • Act as a change agent by evangelizing and promoting human-centered design methodologies across the organization, supporting teams at varying levels of design maturity
  • Solve complex design problems while managing multiple initiatives concurrently
  • Approach each project with consideration for the broader platform experience and overall business model
  • Develop a deep understanding of how products connect across the platform and remain mindful of user journey touchpoints beyond your immediate product area
  • In collaboration with UX Research partners, analyze existing research, user metrics, and insights-balancing data with intuition to translate user needs into tangible design solutions
  • Design and build user flows, wireframes, conceptual designs, and interactive prototypes to support research activities, define development requirements, and inform technical decisions
  • Confidently present design solutions to peers, stakeholders, and leadership, clearly articulating the rationale behind design decisions
  • Create presentations and lead experience-focused discussions with diverse stakeholders, driving feedback and next-step alignment
  • Define and implement consistent design patterns informed by research and best practices both internally and externally
  • Advocate for and contribute to a pattern-based system design approach, including UX standards, styles, guidelines, and the ongoing evolution of a scalable design system with accessible, high-quality patterns
Job Requirements
Required Experience and Skills
  • Portfolio demonstrating UX design work across web and mobile platforms, with clear insight into process, research integration, and cross-functional collaboration throughout the Product Development Lifecycle
  • Bachelor's degree in Human-Computer Interaction (HCI), Visual Communication, Digital Design, Product Design, Human-Centered Design, or a related field required; advanced degree preferred
  • 7+ years of experience in product development, user experience design, product design, creative, or related fields
  • Strong knowledge of usability principles, interaction design, and current UX/UI trends
  • Proven experience leading design efforts across multiple products or initiatives to support cohesive solutions
  • Extensive experience producing low- and high-fidelity sketches, prototypes, and design documentation
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and analytical skills
  • Advanced proficiency in UX design and prototyping tools (e.g., Figma, Axure, Penpot)
  • Deep understanding of responsive design principles
  • Working knowledge of accessibility guidelines and best practices for inclusive design
  • Demonstrated experience working within Agile product teams
  • Strong ability to understand user needs, behaviors, and motivations and translate them into effective design concepts
