What is an htmx?

An Htmx job typically involves working with the HTMX library to enhance web applications by enabling dynamic behavior without relying heavily on JavaScript. Developers in this role use HTMX to create interactive and efficient front-end experiences by extending HTML with AJAX, WebSockets, and other modern web technologies. Responsibilities may include integrating HTMX with back-end systems, optimizing performance, and ensuring seamless user experiences. Familiarity with HTMX, HTML, CSS, and server-side frameworks is often required for such roles.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive in htmx?

To excel in roles involving htmx, candidates should have a solid understanding of web development fundamentals, especially HTML, JavaScript, and server-side integration, often backed by experience in modern front-end frameworks. Familiarity with tools like htmx.js, RESTful APIs, and version control systems such as Git is commonly expected. Strong problem-solving abilities, collaboration, and clear communication skills help professionals integrate dynamic behavior into web apps while working with cross-functional teams. These competencies are crucial to deliver interactive user experiences efficiently and reliably in real-world development environments.

What are some typical challenges faced when working with htmx in web development roles?

Professionals utilizing htmx in web development jobs often encounter challenges related to ensuring seamless communication between client-side components and server responses, as well as handling browser compatibility and progressive enhancement for diverse users. Balancing htmx’s capabilities with existing frameworks or legacy code can also require creative problem-solving and adaptability. Most teams encourage knowledge sharing and frequent code reviews, which help address these issues and foster skill growth. By actively engaging with these challenges, developers can build robust, dynamic interfaces that enhance the end-user experience.

Job description

About Anterior
Anterior is on a mission to transform healthcare administration, making it seamless and invisible so clinicians can focus on delivering care. We've built an AI-powered platform designed by clinicians, for clinicians, to simplify administrative workflows and improve patient outcomes. By combining clinical expertise with cutting-edge technology, we're revolutionizing healthcare operations with responsible AI.
We're growing rapidly and are backed by world-class investors including Sequoia, New Enterprise Associates (NEA), and Neo along with notable angels including the founders of DeepMind, Google AI, and Inflection AI.
Anterior is improving the experience of healthcare for everyone. We're working on the cutting edge of using technology to make clinical decision-making frictionless.
We're building exciting tech for huge customers and we trust in the foundations: keep it simple, build strong foundations, and the rest will follow.
The Team
At Anterior, engineers share a strong "sense of product" and solve meaningful problems that simplify healthcare workflows. We collaborate in multidisciplinary teams to deliver secure, scalable, and user-focused solutions guided by best practices and modular design.
We value diverse experiences and skill sets, continually expanding our team to tackle modern healthcare's challenges with creativity and precision.
About You
You have a passion for doing things The Right Way, you believe Less is More, you want to focus on the foundations of system design and architecture (pacelc, consistency guarantees), you care as much about the code you do not write, you're tired of the hype treadmill and care about the fundamentals. You have battle scars from over-engineered and underperforming slop, and you care about writing code that lasts.
Your depth is on the backend and/or infrastructure. You may be the person building APIs, integrations, data pipelines, and distributed systems - or you may be the person scaling and hardening the cloud infrastructure underneath them. Either way, you've owned system design decisions, shipped them to production, and operated them at scale. You've been the person other engineers come to when something is broken or when a design needs a second opinion. You've led projects, mentored junior engineers, and made architectural decisions that stuck. You may be coming from a scale-up, a big tech platform team, an engineering finance shop, or anywhere with a serious AWS footprint - what matters is that you've seen real complexity and you want more ownership over what you build.
Come share your proudest firefighting story with us in an interview, bring your GitHub, and let's see if we're a good fit.

  • Analyzing request logs, debugging event streams, and improving system reliability
  • Designing and building backend services, APIs, and data pipelines that power our AI platform
  • Working directly with customers to understand real-world healthcare workflows, scope integrations, and translate requirements into product specs
  • Building internal tooling to automate workflows and increase team leverage
  • Writing evals to identify weaknesses and drive improvements in our LLM-powered systems
  • Working across the stack when needed - from backend services to frontend - to ship complete solutions
  • Contributing to Anterior's SDKs, developer documentation, and platform architecture
