Health, Safety and Environmental Manager (HSE Manager)

For our Belgian plant we are looking for a HSE Manager.

The HSE Manager assists the global HSE Director in developing and implementing organizational HSE programs. Review HSE policies, conduct risk assessments and plan precautionary measures.

Roles and Responsibilities
  • HSE Management System: The HSE Manager evaluates the workplace environment and develops HSE Management procedures in accordance with the existing corporate HSE guidelines. He/She ensures in accordance with these guidelines, the implementation, updating review and auditing of the HSE Management Systems. He/She monitors the effective implementation of appropriate HSE procedures and provides for their updating in line with changes in legislation and company directives
  • HSE Monitoring: Ensure that workplace tools and equipment meet industry standards and are installed appropriately. Perform HSE walks, give advise on HSE issues and initiate and monitor the implementation of action plans in order to eliminate accidents and risks and to comply with HSE rules and regulations. Assist members of staff to investigate accidents and incidents, establish root causes and recommend appropriate preventive measures to avoid reoccurrence. Manage the Emergency Response and First Aid Teams.
  • HSE Reporting: Take care of the different administrative activities within the HSE department in order to comply with legal and other requirements and in order to support all HSE related activities
  • Training and communication: Provide in-house safety training for employees to continually maintain an appropriate level of awareness, knowledge and preparedness across the organisation. Coach employees and supervisors on the shopfloor to improve HSE behaviours.
Profile, knowledge and experience
  • Education: Bachelor or Master degree (Environmental and prevention management, industrial engineer,,…)
  • Languages: fluent in Dutch, French and English
  • Skills / Experience:
    • Minimum 5 years experience in a similar function in an industrial environment
    • Level 1 Safety is mandatory and Level A Environment is a plus
    • Experience in fire fighting and first aid
    • Analytical skills
    • Good communication & Reporting skills
    • Solid knowledge of MS Office
