Job description

Position Overview
The HSE Manager is to lead all responsibilities related to health, safety, and environment. The HSE Manager will use data and external information to develop and implement the Company safety and environmental policies for our Houston site. The Manager will be responsible for developing the knowledge of the management team and employees to develop sustainable OHS management.
Essential Job Functions
  • Oversee all HSE functions including risk identification, auditing, training, health & safety committee, and incident investigation.
  • Maintains compliance with all environmental and safety laws.
  • Show strong floor presence to ensure that established practices, policies, and processes are being followed.
  • Develop and execute company safety policies, procedures and methods designed to drive the Company's safety culture and meet the Company's standards and goals.
  • Manage the overall direction and coordination of projects by identifying and approving HSE project plans, contractual agreements, schedules, activities, and milestones to ensure a balance between productivity and the safety of team members, sub-contractors, and visitors in accordance with applicable laws and regulations.
  • Work collaboratively with the region to achieve safety goals, promote leading indicators and share best practices.
  • Provide technical and general support to operations through interpretation of Company practices and procedures in relation to current legislation and regulations.
  • Monitor, oversee, and execute all work required for all environmental permits and licensing for the Houston and Spearfish, SD facilities.
  • Provide incident management tracking reporting.
  • Work closely with managers on Worker's Compensation claims/investigations and all safety incidents. This includes development and implementation of corrective actions.
  • Ability to interact with other departments on safety projects to ensure that the safety requirements are included in the design.
  • Drive the fire protection and safety design decision at all sites.
  • Complete OSHA and Environmental reporting and maintain records.
  • Ability to develop and use analytics to support effective decision making and continuous improvement.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in an applicable field. Technical degree preferred.
  • Minimum 5 years' relevant experience.
  • Demonstrated track record in developing and implementing HSE Policies and Procedures.• Strong communication, management and coaching skills required.
  • High degree of self-initiative.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Solid conflict resolution skills, team building, problem solving and resourceful in obtaining win/win solutions.
  • Good analytical skills.
  • Ability to develop and train in new procedures.
  • Strong history of continuous improvement.
