Job description


The HSE Specialist will play a crucial role in maintaining a safe and compliant work environment for NOV's Downhole Operations. Based in Midland, TX, this position will collaborate with the Carlsbad, NM facility to align with NOV's HSE Management System. The successful candidate will work closely with operations teams, identify risks, and implement corrective actions to enhance HSE performance.
Responsibilities
  • Conduct shop engagements and inspections to identify and address unsafe practices or conditions.
  • Assist in developing, coordinating, and maintaining HSE programs and procedures, ensuring compliance with NOV's standards and regulations.
  • Perform risk assessments, job safety analyses, and routine HSE observations, documenting findings.
  • Participate in incident investigations, identifying root causes, and supporting timely corrective actions.
  • Support the development and delivery of HSE training, promoting awareness and competency.
  • Maintain HSE data, including inspections, incident reports, and training records, ensuring accurate documentation.
  • Analyze HSE data to identify trends, verify corrective actions, and report insights to management.
  • Engage with operations teams to promote safe behaviors and compliance with established work practices.
  • Assist with hazardous waste management, ensuring proper storage, labeling, and documentation.
  • Stay updated with HSE regulations, NOV policies, and industry best practices.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Health, Safety, or Environmental field is preferred.
  • A minimum of 7 years of relevant HSE experience is required.
  • Working knowledge of OSHA, EPA, and DOT regulations, as well as industry standards, is essential.
  • Understanding of ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 standards and their application in management systems.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with strong presentation abilities.
  • First Aid, CPR, and AED instructor certification is an asset.
  • Analytical, reporting, and organizational skills are crucial for this role.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Adherence to safety policies and participation in safety training is mandatory.
  • Experience in delivering HSE presentations and training to diverse audiences.
