Job description

The Specialist, Human Resources fosters a positive workplace culture, provides guidance on routine employee relations matters, and drives engagement and wellness programs, while supporting manager effectiveness. This role serves as a key connector across Human Resources Centers of Excellence (COEs), ensuring employees and managers have access to the information, resources, and support they need throughout the employee lifecycle. The position is responsible for enhancing the employee and manager experience through employee engagement initiatives, manager enablement, first-line HR support,ย  communications, and content management.

Key Responsibilities

Employee Relations Support (Tier 1)

  • Serve as a first point of contact for employee and manager questions regarding HR policies, procedures, and workplace concerns.
  • Provide guidance on routine employee relations matters while escalating complex or sensitive issues to HR Business Partners or Employee Relations leaders.
  • Support documentation, case tracking, and follow-up activities as needed.
  • Help ensure consistent application of HR policies and practices.
  • Identify trends and recurring employee concerns through discussions, surveys and exit interviews and share insights with HR leadership.

Culture & Employee Engagement

  • Support the design, coordination, and execution of employee engagement and culture initiatives.
  • Lead and administer employee wellness and wellbeing programs for RVU.
  • Partner with HR leadership to support culture-building efforts and recognition programs.
  • Assist with employee events, engagement campaigns, and employee experience initiatives.
  • Collect and analyze employee feedback to identify opportunities for continuous improvement.
  • Support action planning related to engagement survey results.
  • Participate on various committees representing HR

Manager Coaching

  • Provide coaching, training and guidance to managers on routine people management matters, including:
    • Performance conversations
    • Employee development
    • Workplace communication
    • Team engagement
    • Policy interpretation
  • Recommend appropriate HR resources, processes, and next steps for manager inquiries.
  • Support leadership development and manager capability-building initiatives.

HR Communications

  • Partner with leadership to create and execute employee-facing communications for HR programs, policy updates, and organizational initiatives.
  • Partner with COE's and Marketing to draft newsletters, portal content, announcements, FAQs, and leadership communications.
  • Support establishing consistency and clarity of messaging across HR functions.

HR Portal Management

  • Maintain content of the HR portal and employee resource center.
  • Manage content updates, publishing schedules, and review cycles.
  • Ensure employees and managers can easily access accurate and up-to-date information.
  • Track portal utilization metrics and recommend improvements.

Cross-Functional HR Partnership

  • Collaborate with Talent Acquisition, Learning & Development, Total Rewards, People Operations, Employee Relations, and HR Business Partners.
  • Support implementation and communication of HR initiatives and programs.

Qualifications

  • 3-5+ years of Human Resources experience, including 3-5 years of Employee Relations experience (required); additional focus areas may include HR/internal communications, employer branding, and employee experience and engagement initiatives.
  • Experience in culture transformation initiatives is a plus.
  • Bachelor degree required.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Experience in higher education or health care settings preferred.
  • Experience supporting an international and/or shared service organization is a plus.
  • Experience with SharePoint and Microsoft 365.
  • Experience with HRIS, preferably Workday
  • Experience using AI to enhance HR programs, processes, and communication.
  • Strong project management and stakeholder management capabilities.

Metrics for Success

  • Effective resolution and escalation of Tier 1 employee relations inquiries.
  • Successful execution of engagement, wellness, and culture initiatives.
  • Improvement in engagement survey results and action plan outcomes.
  • Participation rates for engagement and wellness programs.
  • Positive stakeholder feedback from HR COEs and business leaders.
  • High employee and manager satisfaction with HR communications.
  • Reduce repetitive HR inquiries.

The anticipated salary range for this position is 65,000 to 75,000 per year. The final salary offered may vary and will be determined based on factors such as job-related knowledge, skills, experience, location, and education of the successful candidate. This information is provided per local law.
