Job description

Outlook Group is hiring a Digital Press Operator to join our growing team on 2nd or 3rd shift! The Digital Press Operator (HP Indigo 200K) is responsible for operating, maintaining, and troubleshooting HP Indigo digital presses to produce high-quality printed materials that meet customer specifications for Outlook Group. This role requires a solid understanding of digital print production processes, color management, and quality standards. The Operator will play a key role in maintaining production efficiency, ensuring color accuracy, and adhering to internal quality standards and procedures while upholding Outlook Group's safety and operational requirements.
About Outlook Group:
Outlook Group (OG) is a customer-focused provider of custom packaging solutions, manufacturing a diverse range of products including labels, flexible packaging, and paperboard folding cartons for multiple industry verticals. We also operate fully integrated contract packaging cells, supporting a range of customers and applications that utilize components produced within our facilities.
With nearly 50 years of innovation and performance in the packaging industry, OG operates from two manufacturing facilities in Neenah, Wisconsin, and is recognized for quality, reliability, and partnership.
Qualifications:
The ideal candidate is a mechanically skilled, detail-oriented press professional with a deep understanding of HP Indigo digital print production. This individual is comfortable in a fast-paced, deadline-driven manufacturing environment and takes ownership of both output quality and equipment performance. They collaborate effectively across pre-press, production, and finishing teams, and communicate proactively to resolve issues before they impact delivery. A commitment to safety, quality, and Outlook Group's operational standards is essential.
Schedule:
2nd and 3rd shifts
Responsibilities include:
  • Set up, operate, and monitor HP Indigo digital press equipment to produce printed products according to job specifications and customer requirements.
  • Load and manage substrates (paper stocks, films, synthetics) and ensure proper media handling throughout production runs.
  • Perform Digital Front End (DFE) functions including color profile selection, ink density calibration, and RIP (Raster Image Processing) settings.
  • Conduct press makereadies including substrate calibration, color adjustments, and print quality verification prior to production runs.
  • Monitor and maintain consistent color accuracy using densitometers, spectrophotometers, and HP Indigo's color management tools.
  • Inspect printed output for defects including registration errors, color variation, streaks, and misfeeds; make real-time press adjustments as needed.
  • Maintain accurate production records including job logs, waste tracking, and press performance data.
  • Perform daily, weekly, and monthly preventive maintenance on HP Indigo press equipment, including imaging oil management, blanket cleaning, and general press upkeep to ensure optimal performance and minimize downtime.
  • Diagnose and resolve technical issues with the press to ensure minimal disruption to production; interface directly with HP Indigo support to resolve issues outside of the employee's level of expertise.
  • Monitor and manage ink, substrates, and other consumables to ensure adequate supply for production needs.
  • Coordinate with prepress, production, and quality assurance teams to meet deadlines and exceed customer expectations; direct interactions with pre-production and finishing will be necessary based on daily volume and individual job urgency.
  • Follow all safety protocols, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), and company standard operating procedures.
  • Maintain a clean, organized work area in compliance with Outlook Group's 5S standards.
  • Communicate proactively with supervisors regarding job status, quality concerns, or equipment issues.

Computer Skills
  • Proficiency with HP SmartStream Production Center or equivalent HP Indigo workflow software.
  • Working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite (Acrobat, Photoshop, Illustrator) for file review and prepress tasks - preferred but not required

  • Basic PC skills for job tracking and communication within the manufacturing environment.

Education and/or Experience
  • HP Indigo Level 2 Certification preferred.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience operating and maintaining HP Indigo digital presses preferred; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Short Term Disability Insurance
  • Employee Assistance Program
  • 401K + employer match
