Howmet is currently looking for a Cutoff Operator to join our Hampton Structural Castings (HSC) group in Hampton, Virginia. The available shift hours are 2nd shift, M-F 2pm-10pm. Training is 1st shift, M-F 6am-2pm.

New Hire Starting Rate: $21.94 p/hr.; After 6 months: $24.39 p/hr.

This position will receive an hourly "shift premium" of $1.00 p/hr. while assigned to an off shift.

Job Summary: The Cutoff Operator will remove excess gating per customer specification.

Essential Functions & Job Responsibilities:

  • Ability to read and follow work instructions
  • Record data either manually or by computer as required
  • Maintain and operate swing frame, power tabor, and manual tabor
  • Use mechanical devices as available for lifting and maneuvering parts
  • Observe and maintain all safety requirements
  • Remove and install saw blades as needed
  • Maintain a tolerance of .080 to .125 gate witness per product criteria (PC) requirements
  • Ability to measure the width and depth of the gating using a go, no go gauge as required per part
  • Other duties as assigned

Basic Qualifications:

  • An application must include a resume and two professional references for review and consideration.
  • This position requires a minimum of a high school diploma or general education degree (GED).
  • Applicants must have at least two years of continuous experience or training. Recent high school or college graduates without prior work experience must provide a letter of recommendation.
  • Availability for all shifts (including 2nd shift, 3rd shift, and weekend shift) is necessary. The ability to work overtime and weekends is required as schedules may vary based on operational needs; flexibility is essential.
  • Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
