Substitute Teacher Compensation (Houston, Texas): Starting at $90-120/day (Based on level of education/teacher certification)

A Day in the life of a Substitute Teacher (Houston, Texas):

  • Flexible work days Monday through Friday, must be available 7:30 AM - 4:30 PM (7:30 AM - 12 PM / 12 PM - 4:30 PM for half days)

  • Implement and follow lesson plans provided by the absent teacher to create a cohesive and consistent learning experience for students

  • Manage the classroom effectively to encourage student participation, minimize distractions and maintain a positive learning environment

  • Adapt teaching methods to fit the needs of each individual student

  • Supervise students in and out of the classroom, including in the halls, on the playground and in the cafeteria

  • Provide in-class assignments based on the available lesson plan

  • For long-term substitute teacher: develop lesson plans with the help of department heads (admin or teachers) and assignments consistent with the regular teacher's past lesson plans


Substitute Teacher Qualifications (Houston, Texas):

  • Associate degree or 60+ College hours

  • Bachelors' degree or Teacher's certification (preferred but not required)
