Job description

Position Summary

The Hotel Houseman is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness, appearance, and overall condition of guest areas and hotel facilities. This position supports the housekeeping department by assisting room attendants, maintaining public areas, handling linens and supplies, and ensuring guests have a clean, safe, and comfortable environment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assist Room Attendants with cleaning and servicing guest rooms as needed.
  • Deliver clean linens, towels, amenities, and other supplies to guest rooms and housekeeping areas.
  • Collect and transport soiled linens, towels, and trash.
  • Clean and maintain hotel public areas, hallways, elevators, stairways, and other assigned areas.
  • Vacuum, sweep, mop, dust, and sanitize designated areas.
  • Assist with cleaning and maintaining housekeeping closets, storage areas, and equipment.
  • Respond promptly to housekeeping requests from guests and hotel staff.
  • Assist with moving furniture, mattresses, carts, and other items when necessary.
  • Report maintenance issues, damaged property, safety hazards, or lost-and-found items to the appropriate supervisor.
  • Maintain housekeeping equipment and report equipment that requires repair or replacement.
  • Follow all hotel standards for cleanliness, safety, sanitation, and guest service.
  • Maintain a professional appearance and courteous attitude when interacting with guests and coworkers.
  • Follow proper procedures for handling chemicals, cleaning supplies, linens, and hotel property.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Executive Housekeeper or management.

Qualifications

  • Previous hotel, housekeeping, janitorial, or hospitality experience preferred but not required.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to cleanliness.
  • Good communication and customer-service skills.
  • Ability to follow instructions and hotel procedures.
  • Reliable attendance and punctuality.
