Housekeeping/Laundry Aide

Job Title: Housekeeping/Laundry Aide

The Housekeeping and Laundry Aide is responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and sanitary environment throughout the facility. This role includes cleaning resident rooms, common areas, and laundering linens and personal clothing in accordance with facility standards, infection control policies, and safety regulations.

Housekeeping & Laundry Aide Responsibilities:

  • Clean resident rooms, bathrooms, hallways, and common areas according to schedule and procedures.

  • Dust, mop, vacuum, and sanitize surfaces as assigned.

  • Collect and launder linens, towels, and residents’ personal clothing.

  • Fold, sort, and distribute clean laundry to proper locations.

  • Label resident cloths as applicable.

  • Operate laundry and cleaning equipment safely and efficiently.

  • Follow proper infection control and isolation cleaning procedures.

  • Use appropriate chemicals and cleaning solutions as directed.

  • Report needed repairs or maintenance issues to supervisor.

  • Maintain housekeeping cart and storage areas in a clean, organized manner.

  • Provide respectful and courteous service to residents and staff

Position Requirements:

  • Demonstrates Professionalism.

  • Adhere to predetermined work dates and times.

  • Regular scheduled attendance is required.

  • Complete assignments in a timely manner as assigned.

  • Work cooperatively with all departments.

  • Consistently professional in appearance.

Qualification:

  • High school diploma or GED preferred.

  • Previous housekeeping or laundry experience preferred, especially in healthcare.

  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.

  • Knowledge of proper cleaning techniques and use of equipment.

  • Ability to lift, push, pull, and carry up to 50 pounds.

  • Strong attention to detail and time management skills.

  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays.

  • Positive attitude and commitment to resident satisfaction.

  • Exposure to hazardous chemicals such as disinfectants, cleaners, soap, etc.

  • Exposure to latex gloves and other personal protective equipment.

  • Occasional exposure to blood/body fluids as required providing resident care.

  • Occasional exposure to microbial bacteria and other infectious agents inherent to care for older adults.
