Job description

Summary

Maverick Boat Group seeks a skilled and mechanically inclined Maintenance Technician to maintain, troubleshoot, and repair a wide range of production and facility equipment. The ideal candidate is a proactive, hands-on problem solver who takes ownership of keeping machinery, building systems, and support equipment running safely and reliably. Working closely with production, engineering, and facilities teams, this individual plays a critical role in minimizing downtime, supporting continuous improvement, and ensuring a safe, efficient, and well-maintained work environment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

This position maintains and repairs equipment daily. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Follow Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures as an Authorized Employee and control hazardous energy during service.
  • Read manuals to understand equipment and controls.
  • Perform scheduled preventive maintenance (PM) on production and facility equipment.
  • Coach production operators on basic/routine PM and monitor compliance.
  • Perform tests and operate machinery to ensure it functions properly, including spray guns and pneumatic pumps.
  • Analyze information provided by teammates and rationalize solutions to problems.
  • Disassemble machinery and equipment when maintenance or repair is required.
  • Adjust and calibrate equipment and machinery to optimal specifications.
  • Perform basic electrical troubleshooting of motors, control panels, and wiring.
  • Maintain building systems such as locks, HVAC, plumbing, lighting, air compressors, vacuum systems, and hoses.
  • Maintain fleet vehicles, forklifts, scissor lifts, and similar equipment.
  • Support new equipment installation, commissioning, and department relocations.
  • Perform light fabrication/welding as needed for repairs and fixtures.
  • Complete and close work orders / maintenance requests, documenting cause of failure, corrective action, and parts used.
  • Manage spare-parts inventory — check stock, anticipate needs, and place/expedite orders.
  • Maintain a clean, organized work area (5S / housekeeping).
  • Operate CNC machines (routers, cutting machines) a plus.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Required

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude.
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Flexibility to meet changing requirements.
  • Ability to work efficiently with production team members to minimize manufacturing line downtime.
  • Ability to plan and execute routine maintenance activities and respond to troubleshooting requests and unexpected equipment issues.

Preferred

  • At least 5 years of relevant experience.
  • Associate degree in mechanical, electrical, or industrial maintenance.
  • Experience with hydraulics and pneumatics.
  • Welding experience.

Language Skills: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.  Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. 

Mathematical Skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. 

Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.  Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
