Job description

Under the direct supervision of the Supervisor, performs various housekeeping duties in an assigned area of the Hospital to ensure a clean, fresh, safe, and esthetically pleasing environment. Performs listed duties daily - following a duty list for an assigned area. Attends meetings and uses a checklist to ensure all areas are completed at the end of the shift.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES(*Essential Functions)

  1. As schedule allows, Housekeeping cleans the rooms/areas in which patient equipment is stored, i.e., IV Poles, Blood Pressure Pumps and Temperature Pumps.

  2. Responsible for removing regular and infectious waste as needed.

  3. Responsible for maintaining the cleanliness of the compactor area.

  4. Relocate carefully and completely furniture, equipment and boxes instructed to designated locations.

  5. Assist floor finishers as directed by Supervisor.

  6. Reports any security issues to Supervisor promptly 100% of the time.

  7. Required communicating all concerns to Supervisor promptly.

  8. Reports any assigned work not completed to Supervisor at end of shift.

  9. Reports safety hazards to Supervisor daily and uses checkout forms to record all discharge rooms cleaned daily.

  10. Return all carts, equipment, key pagers and unused supplies to Storeroom in clean condition at end of shifts.

  11. Follows work rules 100% of the time.

  12. Uses chemicals and supplies as trained and accordingly to manufacturer's recommendations 100% of the time.

  13. Strip and makes patient room beds for dismissal cleaning daily.

  14. Dry and wet mop all floors daily with approved cleaning agent.

  15. Polishes all stainless steel weekly and on an as needed basis.

  16. Performs clean up of spills wherever assigned and/or observed.

  17. Replaces in room needle containers when necessary.

  18. Uses Bed-Tracking system property 100% of the time.

  19. Uses step cleaning method consistently.

  20. Dusts all horizontal and vertical surfaces daily with an approved cleaning agent.

  21. Spot cleans walls as necessary.

  22. Damp wipe all patient room furniture daily using approved cleaning agent.

  23. Cleans all porcelain and metal fixtures in restrooms daily with an approved cleaning agent.

  24. Cleans shower rooms and stalls daily.

  25. Replenish all paper and soap supplies in dispensers daily.

  26. Clean all mirrors and windows daily with approved cleaning agent.

  27. Performs duties daily following a checklist for an assigned area using proper chemicals, equipment and technique.

  28. Checks cart before leaving Central Storeroom to make sure that cart has necessary equipment and supplies.

  29. Vacuum all carpeting daily where applicable.

  30. Performs buffing duties as assigned per duty list.

  31. Completes and turns in all checklists are used 100% of the time.

  32. Meets written standards of cleanliness 100% of the time.


JOB SPECIFICATIONS (Minimum Requirements)
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

  • Must be able to work independently with little supervision.
  • Must be able to work as part of a group.


EDUCATION

  • High School Diploma/GED Equivalent Preferred
  • GED Equivalent must be secured within one year of employment

EXPERIENCE

  • 1 year Environmental Services Preferred
