Pay Range: $26.36 - $32.95/hourly compensation
To ensure the cleanliness of all guest floor corridors, foyers, public areas, stairwells, public restrooms, restaurants and exterior areas of the hotel in an impeccable condition to achieve Kahala Hotel & Resort standards of quality. Also assists Room Attendants as necessary to maintain the hotel's high standards of cleanliness and service.
Position Requirements
Essential Functions:
• Vacuums, sweeps and/or mops floors in the hallways, stairwells, vending areas, foyers, lobby, restaurants and general office areas.
• Thoroughly cleans public and employee restroom sinks, toilets, urinals, mirrors, drains, light diffusers, tiles, counters, walls, stalls, vents and floors with cleaning agents by extending arms over head to reach (one arms length) above all areas. Cleans and removes spots from corridor walls, doors and carpets. Polishes and cleans mirrors, railings, elevator buttons, doors & tracks. Replenishes all supplies in the area.
• Thoroughly dusts, cleans and polishes all furniture, pictures, fixtures, artifacts and shelves in the public and office areas by extending arms over head, lifting, bending and stooping for extended periods of time or applying pressure in repeated motions.
• Clean ashtrays and empty trash in public and office areas lifting up to 50 lbs., bending and stooping for extended period of time.
• Cleans and maintains equipment and tools to ensure proper working order. Reports all cleaning, maintenance and safety discrepancies via the telephone and/or two-way radio.
Additional Duties and Responsibilities:
• Assists shampooers with relocation and moving of furniture.
• Report all suspicious persons or activities and hazardous or unsafe conditions to the Security Department.
• Provide instruction and/or guidance for guest and employee safety in fire or other emergency situations.
• Responds in a timely manner in basic English language to guest requests for items such as an iron, safety instructions, assistance, direction, and/or other information as requested.
• Move furniture as directed by a supervisor or manager.
• Posts safety signs in areas to be cleaned.
• Assist Room Attendants with the removal of trash and linen from guest rooms when needed.
• Assist in relieving the linen room during meal breaks.
• Performs a variety of other duties as assigned.
Experience/Skill Requirements:
• Six (6) months prior housekeeping or janitorial experience preferred.
Licenses/Certifications:
• Certification of tuberculosis clearance certification required.
• CPR and Standard First Aid Certification preferred.
• Ability to complete HAZCOM/MSDS Training.'
• Ability to complete Blood Borne Pathogen Training.
Mental Capacity & Organizational Skill Requirements:
• Ability to comprehend and follow instructions from supervisor.
• Knowledge of stain removal and chemical cleaning agents, and operation of different types of equipment.
• Ability to pay attention to detail, handle multiple tasks, and have a high level of patience.
Communication Requirements:
• Ability to read, write, speak and understand the English language sufficient to communicate pleasantly and effectively with employees, staff and guests via the telephone, two-way radio and/or in person.
• Ability to deal effectively with people including complaints.
Other Requirements:
• Ability to work varying shifts and maintain attendance in accordance with the hotel's attendance policy.
• Ability to comply with all hotel rules and regulations including policies regarding safety and grooming standards.
• Employee must maintain a neat, clean and well groomed appearance as outlined in the employee handbook.
