The University of Utah College of Health and Department of Physical Therapy & Athletic Training is seeking an individual to join our research team and support research studies evaluating telehealth and in-person physical therapy for persons with chronic pain. The primary responsibilities of this person are to contact potential participants typically by phone, consent and enroll participants, track retention, and compliance with follow-up assessments and perform data collection activities. They will interact with patients receiving care at University of Utah Health and other health clinics, and with other research staff on the study team. Because of the patient populations involved in these studies, it is helpful for the person in this position is able to communicate in both Spanish and English.

This position is funded by grants from the federal government.
This position has the ability to telecommute. Some on-campus activities are required. An employee hired into this role will be responsible for providing space, telephone, printing, networking and/or internet capabilities at their telecommute location and agree to the terms of the University of Utah campus and Health Academics Telecommuting Agreement.
Responsibilities
1. Screen patients for study eligibility over the phone or in-person based on study criteria
2.Conduct telephone calls to patients to introduce the study and offer the opportunity to enroll in the study
3.Consent and enroll patients by phone or in-person
4. Assist in scheduling patients for follow-up study treatment sessions and assessments
5. Data entry into REDCap study database
6. Documentation of all communications with study participants
7. Identify and report adverse events and protocol deviations.
8. Maintain compliance with all research regulations from the institutional review board and other oversight bodies.
9. Other duties as assigned

Completion of University RED Clinical Certification within two months of hire required.
Completion of CITI Human Subjects and Good Clinical Practice Training within one month of hire required.

Excellent interpersonal and communications skills, both oral and written.
Knowledge of Good Clinical Practices, HIPAA and IRB regulations; an understanding of research procedures; and the ability to function independently is preferred.

Minimum Qualifications
EQUIVALENCY STATEMENT: 1 year of higher education can be substituted for 1 year of directly related work experience (Example: bachelor's degree = 4 years of directly related work experience).

Department may hire employee at one of the following job levels:

Research Assistant, I: Requires little to no related experience.

Research Assistant, II : Requires at least 1 year of related experience.

Research Assistant, III: Requires 3+ years of related experience.
