Job description

The Lending Universal Banker builds lasting relationships with clients by being their trusted financial advisor and recommending personalized products and services. Opens and maintains customer accounts and consumer loans; performs related account maintenance. Processes client transactions, maintains and balances a cash drawer and/or vault and identifies the needs of clients while cross-selling appropriate Bank products and services. Understands and completes job responsibilities in accordance with federal and state regulations.
Essential Functions
Client Relationships 60%
  • Identifies the financial needs of our clients
  • Cross-sells Bank products and services to clients
  • Opens and maintains retail deposit accounts
  • Reviews and approves consumer loan applications
  • Troubleshoots and resolves client concerns
  • Performs debit card and internet banking maintenance
  • Personalizes all client interactions
  • Assists clients via phone, email, and in-person
  • Reaches out to existing clients and prospective clients

Documentation 20%
  • Completes all required account and loan documentation
  • Ensures all regulation requirements are met

Teller Operations 15%
  • Processes client transactions
  • Maintains and balances cash drawer and/or vault on a daily basis

Additional Duties and Responsibilities 5%
  • Closes Bank as needed
  • Participates in internal and external training and development opportunities as required
  • Other job related duties necessary to carry out the responsibilities of this position

Occasionally participates in bank committees and events.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
High school diploma required. Two-year degree in business related coursework preferred. Previous cash handling experience required. Minimum three years banking and consumer lending experience required. NMLS certification required. Must possess courteous and professional customer service attitude; excellent verbal and written communication skills for interacting professionally with clients (both pleasant and difficult situations) and relating to other co-workers; ability to maintain the integrity of highly confidential client and Bank information. Must possess computer functioning and typing skills; basic mathematical skills up to and including fractions; legible handwriting. Must be able to deal effectively with time pressures and stress that can change hourly depending on level of client activity; effective problem solving skills; effective cross selling skills. Must be a self-starter and independent thinker and meet goals as outlined by the manager.
Working Conditions:
Work is performed largely in an office environment with minimal chance for personal injury. Regular contact with clients and co-workers. Occasional out-of-town travel is required for business and education. Regular mental and visual concentration for computer usage required. Frequent use of telephone. Frequent repetitive use of keyboard for approximately 6 hours per day; frequent repetitive fingering and grasping of papers. Receive and provide detailed information through verbal communication. Requires near-, mid-range, and far vision. Will alternate sitting, standing, and walking throughout work shift. Bend, stoop, turn, lift and carry up to 25 pounds in documents and office supplies. Climb stairs. Work is performed generally during regular business hours with minimal expectations of overtime, including a Saturday rotation.
Equipment Used:
Operates personal computer in a Windows environment for word processing, spreadsheets, e-mail, internet, and other bank specific software. Operates core systems on Silverlake. Utilizes a variety of office equipment including computer printer, ten-key calculator, fax, copy machine, typewriter, and multi-line telephone.
