Job description

Description

Under the direction of the Department Manager, the Tube Laser Operator ensures the production of company products at the highest quality and at the lowest possible cost, meeting company policies and procedures. The Tube Labor Operator will act in a manner that is consistent with Gordon Aluminum's Customer 1st Philosophy.

Essential Duties and Responsibilitiesย 

This list of duties and responsibilities is not all-inclusive and may be expanded to include other duties and responsibilities, as management may deem necessary from time to time.ย 

The general purpose of the Tub Laser Operator is to operate computer-controlled machines to perform one or more machine functions on metal work pieces.

  • Mounting materials or work pieces onto production equipment.
  • Operate Tube Laser Machine to produce metal work pieces by way of machine control panel.
  • Remove products or work pieces from production equipment.
  • Inspect all finished products for accuracy and uniformity to ensure product quality and meets company standards.
  • Review blueprints to determine finished work piece dimensions.
  • Measure dimensions of finished work pieces to ensure conformance to specifications, using precision measuring instruments such as calipers, gauges and rules.
  • Reports any non-conforming or defective material immediate to a supervisor or manager, immediately.
  • Communicate problems to supervisors and offers solutions.
  • Accurately logs direct and indirect time to data collection software.
  • Clean machines, tooling, or parts, using solvents or solutions, water and rags.
  • Wear Common Protective or Safety Equipment such as Safety Shoes, Glasses, Gloves, Hearing Protection while adhering to all general safety policies.

  • Performing all work related tasks in a manner that is in compliance with all Federal, State, and local standards and regulations.ย 
  • Adhering to Company policies, procedures, and directives regarding safety and standards of workplace behavior, in completing job duties and assignments


Requirements

Qualifications

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.ย ย 

Education and/or Experience

High school diploma or general education degree (GED)

Mathematical Skills

Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.

Language Skills

Ability to read a limited number of two- and three-syllable words and to recognize similarities and differences between words and between series of numbers. Ability to print and speak simple sentences.

Reasoning Ability

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out simple one- or two-step instructions. Ability to deal with standardized situations with only occasional or no variables.

Physical Demands

Physical Demands refers to the level and/or duration of physical exertion generally required to perform occupational takes (sitting, standing, walking, lifting, carrying, reaching, pushing and pulling).

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand and use hands to handle, or touch objects or controls. Perform repetitive motion of fingers, hands, wrists, shoulders and upper body. The employee is regularly required to reach with hands and arms. On occasion the incumbent may be required to walk, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.ย 

The employee must frequently lift up to 10 pounds, regularly lift up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift up to 50 pounds.ย 

Work Environment

While performing the duties of this position, the employee is frequently exposed to work near moving mechanical parts, and CNC or humid conditions (non-weather).

The noise level in typically loud in this work environment. Hearing protection is required.ย 

Employee is expected to wear the required personal protective equipment when on the production floor.
