Job description

The Transportation Safety Manager plays a critical role for CR&R in monitoring the health of the EHS system through training, coordinating and auditing the implementation of Environmental, Health & Safety programs.  The position manages compliance efforts and continuous EHS improvement strategies. In addition, the Safety Manager will be responsible for ensuring all incidents and their corrective actions are completed.


Salary Range:  $75,000 - $80,000 per year

Key Responsibilities and Duties

  • Assist in the determination of the preventability of accidents and injuries
  • Conduct safety and DOT audits to ensure managers and employees are following safety rules/ regulations
  • Provide required monthly safety training to all managers
  • Develop training strategies, initiatives and materials for new driver orientation
  • Evaluate safety concerns and incident countermeasures for compliance with regulations and company policy
  • Conduct investigations and review completed reports related to traffic and industrial type accidents
  • Assist with legal issues pertaining to accident and injury investigations to determine cause and also, that result in litigation.
  • Participate in legal depositions that CR&R is involved in and testify in a court of law if required
  • Investigate thefts which may occur on company property
  • Investigate any threats or potential threats of violence to employees
  • Investigate any crimes that may occur on company property and liaison with law enforcement personnel
  • Bachelor's degree in education, business, human resources, information technology, or related field is preferred
  • Two (2) years' previous experience as a trainer, corporate training specialist, or related position
  • Proficient computer skills, Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Excel), and instructional software
  • Experience with technologies and best practices for instructional manuals and teaching platforms
  • Strict adherence to company philosophy/mission statement/sales goals
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to supervise multiple projects
  • Good interpersonal skills and communication with all levels of management
  • Able to multitask, prioritize, and manage time efficiently
  • Excellent leadership, team building, and management skills
  • Encouraging to team and staff; able to mentor and lead
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Able to analyze problems and strategize for better solutions
