Job description

Position Summary
AT-RISK International is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Security Training Specialist to assist in leading the development, coordination, and delivery of security training programs. This position plays a pivotal role in enhancing the professionalism, safety, and readiness of over 110 security personnel operating across four time zones. The ideal candidate will combine hands-on expertise in tactical firearms, active shooter, defensive tactics, and de-escalation instruction with comprehensive program oversight and administrative management, ensuring consistent compliance and operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities
Training Development, Scheduling, and Delivery
  • Assist in the design, development, revision, and implementation of training curricula, lesson plans, instructor guides, and other materials aligned with regulatory requirements and operational needs.
  • Schedule and coordinate training sessions across multiple sites and time zones, managing attendance and ensuring timely completion.
  • Maintain annual training calendars and coordinate instructor availability, facilities, range scheduling, equipment, and logistics.
  • Deliver in-person and remote training, including firearms proficiency, defensive tactics, verbal de-escalation, and report writing.
  • Support certification and recertification processes to maintain compliance with contractual, state, and federal standards.
  • Conduct practical exercises, scenario-based training, tabletop exercises, and performance evaluations to reinforce learning objectives.

Standardization and Records Management
  • Assist in maintaining standardization and centralization of training documentation, licenses, certifications, schedules, and reports.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records for 110+ security and weapons licenses, 26 state licenses, internal and external certifications, weekly schedules, and monthly reports.
  • Develop and enforce document templates, style guides, and version control protocols to ensure consistency and accessibility.
  • Ensure training records remain audit-ready and compliant with client requirements, regulatory agencies, and internal quality assurance standards.
  • Book travel and adhere to budget conscious spending.
  • Track training expenditures and resource utilization to ensure all activities are completed within approved budget allocations while maintaining program quality and compliance.

Operational Oversight and Program Management
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of training programs through ad-hoc site audits.
  • Conduct regular compliance audits and ensure all training and administrative processes meet contractual and regulatory requirements.
  • Serve as a liaison between program management and site security teams to maintain alignment and readiness.
  • Identify operational training gaps and recommend corrective actions to improve overall program performance.

Support for Mobilizations and Special Projects
  • Provide on-site support during new site mobilizations, contract transitions, and regional training events.
  • Travel up to 40% to ensure continuity and operational support across client sites.

Qualifications
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in security operations, law enforcement, military, or related fields.
  • Certified firearms, defensive tactics, and/or de-escalation instructor (e.g., POST, NRA Law Enforcement, PPCT).
  • Proven experience managing multi-site training programs and coordinating schedules across time zones.
  • Strong working knowledge of:
    • Microsoft Office Suite
    • Microsoft Teams
    • SharePoint
    • Learning Management Systems (LMS)
    • Training record management systems
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with experience preparing lesson plans, reports, SOPs, and training documentation.
  • Strong organizational skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office and training management systems.
  • Ability to travel domestically up to 40% and work flexible hours as needed.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to pass background and drug screenings.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience supporting enterprise-level corporate security programs.
  • Bachelor's degree in Homeland Security, Criminal Justice, or related field.
  • Familiarity with private security contracts, government, and military standards.
  • Experience with learning management systems (LMS) and online training platforms.
