Stacker Operator/Night Shift
Job Status: Hourly
Work Schedule: Monday-Friday, Weekends
Reports to: Production Coordinator
Positions Supervised: Forklift Operator, Stacker Crew
Job Summary:
The Stacker Operator is responsible for moving material through the stacker (incising where applicable), sticking and de-sticking while maintaining environmental and safety compliance at all times.
Essential Functions/Duties:
โ€ข Work with a safety mindset at all times.
โ€ข Ensure all environmental and safety procedures are followed and report all unsafe or non-compliant.
โ€ข Move material across stackers in a safe and productive manner without sacrificing quality.
โ€ข Mentor, train and guide the employees on the stacker crew.
โ€ข Ensure stamps are correct for the material and are legible on the wood.
โ€ข Monitor the stacker crew to ensure jobs are performed correctly and efficiently; raise issues or concerns to the Production Coordinator.
โ€ข Keep the stacker area clean throughout the day.
โ€ข Know emergency response procedures and be able to help in emergency situations.
โ€ข Attend all training sessions and safety meetings.
โ€ข Computer duties as necessary.
โ€ข Other duties as directed.
Qualifications:
โ€ข High School Graduate or General Education Degree (GED) required.
โ€ข Ability to learn safe operation of equipment.
โ€ข Ability to perform work accurately and thoroughly.
โ€ข Ability to learn about treatments, lumber and plywood sizes, grades, and species.
โ€ข Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
โ€ข Ability to use thinking and reasoning to solve problems.
โ€ข Ability to communicate effectively with others.
โ€ข Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations.
โ€ข Ability to work effectively with people regardless of their age, gender, race, ethnicity, religion, or job type.
โ€ข Ability to demonstrate behaviors conforming to Hoover's set of values and accepted standards.
โ€ข Ability to be internally inspired to perform a task to the best of one's ability using his or her own drive or initiative.
โ€ข Computer Skills: This position does not require the use of a computer.
Work Environment:
Indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions. It could be hot, cold, humid, and/or rainy.
Training Requirements:
Immediately upon hire or assignment to the Stacker Operator position, training will take place in Safety and Environmental programs. Annual training over all programs.
