Job Summary

We are seeking a dependable and safety-conscious Dump Truck Driver to join our team in the Highlands, NC area. You will be responsible for transporting materialsโ€”such as gravel, dirt, asphalt, and debrisโ€”to and from various residential and commercial construction sites. Because of our unique mountain geography, we are looking for a driver who is comfortable navigating steep terrain and winding roads while maintaining the highest safety standards.

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Safe Operation: Safely operate a Class B (or Class A) dump truck in mountain terrain, including narrow roads and steep grades.
  • Material Transport: Haul and dump loads of aggregate, soil, and construction materials at designated locations.
  • Vehicle Inspection: Perform daily pre-trip and post-trip inspections (brakes, tires, fluids, lights) to ensure the vehicle is in top operating condition.
  • Load Management: Ensure loads are secure and within legal weight limits; operate the dump bed and tailgate controls with precision.
  • Log Maintenance: Maintain accurate daily driver logs, delivery tickets, and maintenance reports.
  • Communication: Coordinate with dispatch and on-site foremen via radio or phone to ensure timely deliveries and site-specific instructions.
  • Routine Maintenance: Keep the truck cab and exterior clean; report any mechanical issues or safety hazards immediately.

Requirements & Qualifications

  • License: Must possess a valid CDL Class B (Class A is a plus).
  • Experience: Minimum of 2 years of professional truck driving experience. Experience driving in mountain/high-elevation terrain is a major plus.
  • Clean Record: Valid DOT Medical Card and a clean MVR (Motor Vehicle Record) with no recent major violations.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency with manual transmissions (8-speed/10-speed) is preferred.
  • Physical Ability: Must be able to climb in and out of the truck multiple times a day and occasionally lift up to 50 lbs (e.g., for tarping or minor maintenance).
  • Reliability: Strong work ethic and punctuality; ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions.

Benefits

  • Home Every Night: No over-the-road (OTR) requirements.
  • Competitive hourly pay with overtime opportunities.
  • Health Insurance / 401k / Paid Time Off
  • Safe, well-maintained equipment.
