Job description


Job Summary:ย The School Custodian is responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and functional environment within school facilities. Key duties include inspecting assigned areas to ensure cleanliness and operational standards are met, conducting routine maintenance checks, and performing minor repairs. This role involves general cleaning of interior and exterior spaces, addressing routine and emergency maintenance needs, and collaborating with staff and administrators to support school operations. The custodian reports inspection findings to the Custodial Manager and completes various facility-related tasks while working independently to meet daily operational requirements.


New Hire Hourly rate: Grade 6: $21.60 - $24.14 DOEย 
Internal Hourly Rate: Determined by the ESSA Negotiated Agreement
Work hours: 7 hours per day
Work year: 9 months
Bargaining Unit: Education Support Staff Association (ESSA)
Job Qualifications/Requirements (please review job description for qualifications and duties of the position):

  1. One (1) year of heavy industrial, hospital, or school cleaning experience.
  2. Possess the necessary skills and knowledge to carry out tasks effectively with minimal training or supervision.
  3. Basic knowledge of minor building maintenance.
  4. A valid State of Alaska driver's license and ability to access military installations.
