Job description

Duties Description As a Registered Nurse 1 on an assigned shift, you will provide professional nursing services appropriate to individuals served by the program to which you are assigned. Services may include, but are not limited to, nursing interventions and their documentation, case finding, health teaching/counseling and provision of supportive and/or restorative care. You will also participate in staff training, prepare clinical and administrative reports, maintain infection control standards, and function as a member of a treatment team.

Temp Hourly Registered Nurse 1 will function as relief staff to provide nursing coverage in a chosen county. The Registered Nurse 1 role is essential to the health and safety as it pertains to the medical/nursing needs of our individuals residing in the community. With an aging population, their medical needs have and will continue to increase.

A temp hourly Registered Nurse1will supplement care where additional Registered Nurse1 coverage is required. PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: The temp hourly Registered Nurse 1 will provide coverage where nursing needs are high and staffing ratios are low. The Registered Nurse 1 duties may include, but are not limited to: injections, feedings, wound care, insertion of catheters, ostomy care, and nursing assessments.

Provides nursing care oversight, charts health status, transcribes physician's orders accurately, and ensues appropriate medical orders and follow up appointments are communicated within the work location. This position will be provided with a mentor for training. Note: You must have a valid driver's license to apply as travel is a part of the duties involved in this position.

Additional Comments This title is part of the New York Hiring for Emergency Limited Placement Statewide Program (NY HELPS). HELPS Program titles may be filled via a non-competitive appointment

This means that you do not need to take an exam to qualify, but you do need to meet the minimum qualifications of the title. Please note that starting salary for this title reflects the increased hiring salary, Downstate adjustment and geographic pay differential. Posted Hiring Salary includes the sum of the statutory hiring rate for PS&T Grade 18 ($66,951), Increased Hiring Salary ($9,196) Geographic Pay Differential ($35,000),and Downstate adjustment ($4,000). Geographic Pay Differential and Downstate adjustment are also added to the job rate($85,138).

If you are currently a New York State employee serving in a permanent competitive qualifying title and eligible for a transfer via Section 70.1 of the Civil Service Law, you may be appointed to this title as a permanent competitive employee. The assignment of PS&T employees will be made in accordance with any agreed upon Memorandum of Understanding between PEF and the local DDSO regarding the posting of job vacancies. Preference will be given to OPWDD employees impacted by closures
