Job Title: Inventory SpecialistJob Description

The Inventory Specialist accurately receives, records, stores, and ships parts and materials within a large manufacturing and distribution environment. This role focuses on maintaining precise inventory records in ERP and Excel systems, ensuring full traceability of hardware, and supporting smooth material flow from receipt through shipment while contributing to process improvements and maintaining a clean, organized workspace.

Responsibilities
  • Physically receive parts and materials and promptly enter all receipts into the ERP system.
  • Label incoming parts and place them into the correct storage locations to ensure organized, efficient retrieval.
  • Pick parts and kits according to requirements and accurately scan and record them in Excel spreadsheets.
  • Maintain full traceability of all hardware by documenting batch, lot, and serial numbers in Excel spreadsheets.
  • Track movement of parts from picking through shipping to ensure accurate visibility of inventory status.
  • Pack and crate parts for shipment, confirming that quality inspection has been completed prior to shipping.
  • Monitor and track what has been shipped versus scanned and not yet shipped using Excel spreadsheets.
  • Report, investigate, and resolve inventory discrepancies in a timely and thorough manner.
  • Perform ERP system transactions, including receipts, inventory movements, and issuing parts to jobs.
  • Conduct cycle counts and support ongoing inventory control and inventory management activities.
  • Handle material using pallet jacks and other warehouse equipment as required.
  • Consistently lift up to 50 pounds while performing daily warehouse and material handling tasks.
  • Support shipping and receiving operations to ensure accurate and on-time deliveries.
  • Contribute ideas and feedback to improve inventory processes and overall warehouse efficiency.
  • Use RF scanners and related warehouse technology to complete inventory and material handling tasks.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the workspace to support safety and productivity.
Essential Skills
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in inventory and material handling, preferably in a manufacturing or distribution environment.
  • Hands-on experience with inventory control, inventory management, and cycle counts.
  • Experience working with ERP systems for inventory transactions; strong preference for SAP.
  • Proficiency with Excel spreadsheets for tracking parts, traceability information, and shipment status.
  • Experience in shipping and receiving and warehouse inventory operations.
  • Ability to use pallet jacks and perform general material handling tasks safely and efficiently.
  • Capability to consistently lift up to 50 pounds as part of daily job duties.
  • Strong attention to detail to ensure accurate data entry, labeling, and documentation.
  • Good computer skills, including data entry and navigation of ERP and spreadsheet tools.
  • Ability to use RF scanners and related warehouse technology for inventory tracking.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Experience in a large manufacturing site supporting commercial customers.
  • Comfort working in a high-volume warehouse environment with multiple buildings on a large campus.
  • Willingness to work occasional overtime, including some Saturdays, when business needs require.

  • Strong problem-solving skills for investigating and resolving inventory discrepancies.

Work Environment

The role is based in a 1.7-million-square-foot manufacturing and warehouse facility situated on approximately 180 acres near Maryland’s Chesapeake Bay, close to Baltimore. The site employs nearly 1,000 people and supports various commercial customers, offering a dynamic, high-volume environment. Work is performed in a large campus setting with multiple buildings, using ERP systems (strongly SAP), Excel, RF scanners, pallet jacks, and standard material handling equipment. The standard shift is 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, with typical overtime of 5–10 hours per week and occasional Saturday work as needed. The workspace is maintained for cleanliness and organization, and employees are expected to follow appropriate warehouse and manufacturing attire and safety guidelines.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Middle River, MD.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $22.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
