To become an hourly rental car porter, applicants typically need a valid driver's license, good driving record, and physical ability to handle vehicle movement and cleaning. Employers often require a background check and may prefer previous customer service or automotive experience. Applying directly to rental car companies or staffing agencies and demonstrating reliability and attention to detail can improve chances of employment.

Job description

Leo Chevrolet is hiring a Service Porter in Indianapolis. You're the person who keeps the service department running smoothly behind the scenes - moving vehicles, greeting customers, maintaining the lot, and making sure the shop stays clean and organized.

This is an entry-level position and a real way into the automotive industry. Many of our technicians, advisors, and managers started as porters. If you want to learn the business from the ground up while earning a paycheck, this is where you start.

No experience needed. If you can drive, show up on time, and work hard, you're qualified.

What You'll Do

- Move customer vehicles to and from the service lane, lot, and wash bay

- Greet service customers and help direct them when they arrive

- Keep the service drive, shop, and lot clean and organized

- Shuttle customers to and from work or home when needed

- Wash and vacuum vehicles after service is completed

- Run errands between departments or locations as needed

- Help maintain a safe, professional environment in and around the shop

What We're Looking For

- Valid driver's license with a clean record

- Comfortable driving a variety of vehicles (cars, trucks, SUVs)

- Able to work on your feet and outdoors in all weather

- Reliable - this role depends on you being here when scheduled

- Positive attitude and willingness to help wherever needed

- Must be 18 or older

What You Don't Need

- Automotive experience

- A degree

- Technical skills

This is a starting point. If you're looking to get into the car business and you're willing to work, we'll show you the rest.

What We Offer

- Competitive hourly pay

- Health, dental, and vision insurance

- 401(k)

- Paid time off

- Employee vehicle purchase program

- A real path into service, sales, or management
