VETS, Inc., is looking to add a highly experienced Global Trade Services (GTS) Functional Lead to support the Agile TM Team on the Joint Transportation Management System (JTMS), a large-scale SAP S/4HANA transformation program, to our growing team. This is a remote opportunity based out of the Saint Louis area and work in hand. Due to contractual requirements, this position requires a security clearance or US Citizenship/ability to obtain a clearance.

This role is responsible for leading the design and implementation of global trade compliance, export controls, and customs management processes within an integrated SAP environment. You will work across functional and technical teams to ensure that transportation and logistics operations are executed in full compliance with U.S. and international trade regulations.

This position requires deep GTS expertise, strong leadership capability, and the ability to influence enterprise-wide compliance strategies in a complex, highly regulated DoD environment.
Responsibilities:
SAP GTS Functional Leadership

  • Serve as the functional lead and subject matter expert for SAP Global Trade Services (GTS).
  • Own the design and configuration of GTS processes, including: Compliance management (restricted party screening, embargo checks), Export control classification and licensing, Customs management and import/export processing
  • Provide strategic direction on GTS solution architecture and integration with SAP S/4HANA.

Trade Compliance & Regulatory Alignment

  • Ensure SAP solutions align with U.S. and international trade regulations, including export controls and customs requirements.
  • Design and implement processes that support auditability, traceability, and regulatory compliance.
  • Identify compliance risks and develop mitigation strategies and internal controls.
  • Support audit activities and ensure readiness for regulatory reviews and inspections.

Integration with Transportation & Logistics

  • Lead integration between SAP GTS, Transportation Management (TM), and Sales & Distribution (SD) to ensure: Trade compliance checks are embedded within logistics and order execution processes, Seamless flow of data across export, shipment, and delivery activities
  • Collaborate with EWM, MM, and Finance teams to ensure end-to-end process alignment.

Agile Delivery & Team Leadership

  • Act as a functional lead within an Agile team, guiding design decisions and mentoring team members.
  • Participate in and lead Agile ceremonies including: Sprint planning, backlog refinement, and retrospectives
  • Work closely with Product Owners to prioritize compliance capabilities and enhancements.
  • Ensure delivery of high-quality solutions aligned with program milestones and compliance requirements.

Requirements Analysis & Solution Design

  • Lead requirements gathering and translation into functional designs and configuration specifications.
  • Conduct fit-gap analysis to align business needs with SAP GTS capabilities.
  • Recommend scalable, compliant solutions that balance standard SAP functionality with mission requirements.

Testing, Validation & Deployment

  • Define and oversee testing strategies for GTS functionality, including SIT and UAT.
  • Validate compliance processes, screening results, and documentation accuracy.
  • Support deployment, cutover activities, and post-go-live stabilization.

Data Governance & Reporting

  • Ensure accuracy and integrity of trade compliance data, including classification, partner data, and licensing information.
  • Support development of compliance reporting, audit trails, and regulatory documentation.

Continuous Improvement & Optimization

  • Identify opportunities to enhance trade compliance processes and system performance.
  • Recommend and implement improvements based on regulatory changes, audit findings, and operational feedback.

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, International Business, Information Systems, or related field
  • 8–12+ years of SAP functional experience, including deep expertise in SAP GTS
  • Experience supporting SAP S/4HANA environments and integrations
  • Strong knowledge of global trade compliance regulations, including export controls and customs processes
  • Experience working in Agile delivery environments
  • Demonstrated ability to lead functional design efforts and influence stakeholders
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills

Preferred

  • Experience supporting DoD or federal government logistics and transportation programs
  • Familiarity with ITAR, EAR, and other U.S. export control regulations
