Summary

Help play a critical role in our production process by ensuring the safe and efficient handling of live birds as they enter the facility. As a Turkey Live Hanger, you will work as part of a team to maintain animal welfare standards, support production operations, and help ensure a consistent flow through the processing line. This hands-on role is ideal for individuals who thrive in a fast-paced environment, take pride in attention to detail, and are committed to safety, quality, and teamwork while contributing to the success of our operations.

Schedule: Monday through Friday, 2:30 am-4:00 pm

Principal Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Remain in a stationary position on an adjustable ride-a-track.
  • Reach 26-43 inches into coops to lift birds so they can be hung on a moving shackle line.
  • Travel 6-28 inches while lifting a 16-45-pound live bird.
  • Place birds onto a moving shackle line at a rate of 11 repetitions per minute so they can be transported to the kill and pick area.
  • Secure both feet in the proper position in the shackle while using proper animal welfare handling techniques.

Minimum Education and Experience

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Strong reading, communication, math, writing, and analytical skills.

 

Physical Requirements and Environmental Factors

  • Longest time in a single interval is less than 1 hour with 9-11 repetitions per minute.
  • Temperature exposure ranges from less than 32F to more than 85F.
  • Dampness exposure is dry.
  • Walking and standing surfaces are dry and consist of metal grating.
  • Chemical exposure includes chlorinated water at less than 50 ppm, carbon fuel fumes, and hydraulic oils.
  • Noise exposure ranges between 85-89.9 dB.
  • Required personal protective equipment includes hearing protection, vision protection (glasses/goggles), cotton gloves, a rubber rain suit, hard hat, back support apron, and hair net.
  • Longest interval of time spent standing is 2-4 hours with stationary mobility.
  • Longest interval of time spent bending is 2-4 hours with 7-9 repetitions per minute.
  • Maximum forward angle is 45-90 degrees.
  • Maximum backward angle is 2-5 degrees.
  • Maximum side angle is greater than 30 degrees.
  • Longest interval of time spent twisting is 2-4 hours with 7-9 repetitions per minute.
  • Maximum twisting angle from forward is greater than 90 degrees.
