Job Description Job Title: Electrical Field Test Technician (NETA or Equivalent) Employment Type: Full-Time, Direct Hire Travel: Approximately 25% (Regional & National Projects) Opportunity Overview A well-established and nationally recognized provider of electrical power system services is seeking an experienced Electrical Field Test Technician to join their growing team. This is a direct hire opportunity for professionals with NETA certification or an equivalent NICET qualification, offering the chance to work on complex electrical infrastructure across diverse environments. This position involves hands-on fieldwork, leadership responsibilities, and the opportunity to work on critical power systems, from low to high voltage. The ideal candidate is a highly skilled technician with a strong commitment to safety, quality, and mentoring junior team members. Key Responsibilities
  • Perform on-site inspection, testing, commissioning, and troubleshooting of electrical systems and components
  • Lead and mentor junior technicians and field assistants, providing oversight and technical guidance
  • Plan and assign tasks, monitor performance, and ensure adherence to safety and quality standards
  • Conduct acceptance and maintenance testing of equipment including switchgear, relays, transformers, and motor control centers
  • Calibrate and test solid-state and electromechanical relays (e.g., SEL 700G or equivalent)
  • Utilize diagnostic software and tools such as Enoserv RTS, Omicron, and Megger equipment
  • Analyze data, conduct fluid sampling, and interpret results to identify system performance issues
  • Complete Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs), including arc flash and shock hazard assessments
  • Generate detailed, accurate field service reports and maintain project documentation
  • Participate in a rotating on-call schedule for emergency service support
  • Collaborate with technical and sales teams to deliver recommendations and insights to clients
Candidate Profile Minimum Qualifications:
  • 5+ years of hands-on experience in power system testing and maintenance
  • Certified at NETA Level III or IV, or equivalent NICET certification
  • Demonstrated leadership experience in a field-based role
  • Familiar with industry standards such as NETA ATS/MTS and NFPA70E
  • Skilled in hazardous energy control (lockout/tagout) and electrical safety practices
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record
  • Willingness to travel regionally and nationally up to 25%
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Associate's degree or higher in Electrical Engineering Technology, Power Systems, or related discipline
  • Background in troubleshooting ground faults and other complex electrical issues
  • Knowledge of generator protection systems and high-voltage substation operations
