Job description

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Kforce has a client that is seeking a Senior Business Analyst - Data Engineering (2 Openings) in Phoenix, AZ preferred (remote considered).
Overview:
We are seeking two Senior Business Analysts to support a large-scale enterprise data transformation initiative and ongoing data platform operations. These opportunities are ideal for professionals who thrive at the intersection of business analysis and data engineering, partnering closely with Data Engineers, Data Modelers, and technical leaders to deliver modern data solutions.
One position will support a high-profile enterprise transformation initiative. The second position will support ongoing data platform enhancement and operational initiatives across multiple business domains.
What You Will Be Doing:
* Partner with Data Engineers, Data Modelers, Architects, and Subject Matter Experts to define and document enterprise data requirements
* Analyze source systems and data structures to support data migration, transformation, and modernization initiatives
* Create and maintain Data definitions, Table definitions, Source-to-target mappings, Data lineage documentation, Business and technical requirements, Process flows and transformation logic
* Support enterprise data initiatives utilizing Medallion Architecture (Bronze, Silver, and Gold layers)
* Facilitate discussions with stakeholders to understand data ownership, business rules, and transformation requirements
* Coordinate and track large volumes of data migration and transformation activities
* Partner with technical teams to ensure requirements are translated into scalable data solutions
* Perform data analysis, validation, and quality reviews throughout the development lifecycle
* Contribute to data governance, metadata management, and data quality efforts
* Utilize AI-enabled tools to accelerate analysis, documentation, discovery, and process improvement activities
REQUIREMENTS:
* 6+ years of experience as a Business Analyst, Technical Business Analyst, Data Analyst, Data Engineering Analyst, or similar role
* Strong experience supporting data warehouse, data platform, data integration, or data engineering initiatives
* Experience gathering and documenting business, functional, and technical requirements
* Demonstrated experience with SQL and data analysis
* Experience working with ETL/ELT processes and data transformation concepts
* Strong understanding of source-to-target mapping, data lineage, and data definitions
* Experience working directly with technical teams, including Data Engineers, Architects, and Developers
* Excellent communication, facilitation, and stakeholder management skills
Preferred Qualifications:
* Experience with Snowflake, Databricks, Azure Synapse, BigQuery, or similar cloud data platforms
* Experience with Informatica, dbt, Airflow, or other modern data integration technologies
* Familiarity with Medallion Architecture and Bronze/Silver/Gold data layer implementations
* Experience creating logical and physical data models
* Knowledge of data governance, metadata management, and data quality frameworks
* Experience supporting enterprise data migration or modernization programs
* Background in Data Engineering, Data Warehousing, Data Architecture, or Data Management
* Experience leveraging AI tools such as GitHub Copilot, Microsoft Copilot, ChatGPT, Claude, or similar solutions to improve productivity and delivery outcomes
What We're Looking For:
The ideal candidate is a technically-minded Business Analyst comfortable operating within data engineering environments. You are naturally curious, ask thoughtful questions, enjoy working through complex data challenges, and can confidently bridge the gap between technical teams and business stakeholders.
Both roles are four month contract assignments with possibility of extension based on budget and performance. Phoenix local is strongly preferred.
The pay range is the lowest to highest compensation we reasonably in good faith believe we would pay at posting for this role. We may ultimately pay more or less than this range. Employee pay is based on factors like relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, location, performance, union contract and business needs. This range may be modified in the future.
We offer comprehensive benefits including medical/dental/vision insurance, HSA, FSA, 401(k), and life, disability & ADD insurance to eligible employees. Salaried personnel receive paid time off. Hourly employees are not eligible for paid time off unless required by law. Hourly employees on a Service Contract Act project are eligible for paid sick leave.
