WCC is establishing a pool of qualified candidates to be considered when part-time and/or on-call Professional Service Police Academy are needed to assist instructors with in-person Police Academy credit courses. Needs may become available prior to or during each semester. Upon successful submission of your application, resume and transcripts, you will be considered for future part-time and/or on-call teaching opportunities on a per course basis.
Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:
• Assist Instructor in coaching students in basic police training related topics and skills.
• Monitor students' performance to make suggestions/corrections for improvement and to ensure that they satisfy course standards, training requirements, and MCOLES state licensing standards.
• Work individually and with other instructors to review and evaluate individual students and their progress.
• Maintain accurate and complete student records as required.
• Regular attendance on campus is required for this position.
• Utilize technology, including AI-enabled tools and software where appropriate, to support teaching, learning, student engagement, professional responsibilities, institutional service, and other responsibilities. Use such technologies in a manner consistent with academic standards, professional ethics, confidentiality requirements, and compliance with institutional policies, procedures, and applicable regulations.
• Other duties as assigned.
Hours/Schedule:
This position will work on-campus varying hours and will not exceed twenty (20) hours per week.
Minimum Qualifications:
Minimum Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
• Bachelor's degree from a regionally-accredited institution in Criminal Justice or related field required. Minimum 3 years full-time work experience required. Past or current license as Law Enforcement or Corrections officer or industry recognized professional certification in the specific area of instruction required. Associates degree in Criminal Justice or related field may be considered with minimum 7 years full time work experience and certification.
• Demonstrate the ability to effectively present, teach, and coach basic police training curriculum at the basic police academy level.
• Must function well in an adult learning environment.
• Must have curriculum subject area knowledge/personal experience. This can be through years of service, specialized training, educational opportunities, etc.
• Demonstrated ability to use technology relevant to the discipline and faculty role, including the capacity to learn and appropriately utilize emerging AI-supported tools. Ability to evaluate the accuracy, reliability, and appropriateness of AI-generated content; maintain confidentiality where required; exercise professional and academic judgment; and uphold ethical standards in the use of technology for teaching, learning, and service.
