(SA-TECH) is a progressive and well-established Department of Defense (DoD) contractor specializing in Range operations and maintenance (O weapons testing; facilities management; aerial, ground and seaborne targets O technical, logistics and other engineering support; systems integration; electronics and communications maintenance services; and a growing cybersecurity business. We are highly focused and, among other efforts, currently operate a dozen active test and/or training ranges for the Army, Air Force and Navy. We are currently seeking to hire a Marine Electronics Technician (Engineering Technician IV-V) to support a dynamic U.S. Navy Directorate specializing in design, research, development, testing, and evaluation of experimental watercraft for our DoD clients. SA-TECH is ensuring performance and fleet readiness by providing full-spectrum O&M support of specialized combatant craft, patrol boats, Special Operations Forces platforms and coastal craft.


As an electronics technician on our Marine Maintenance Team, you will be based out of our dockside facilities at Naval Station Norfolk, VA and your responsibilities will include (but are not limited to):

  • Troubleshoot equipment onboard naval boats and test craft, check functionality of newly installed equipment and evaluate systemsโ€™ performance under actual operating conditions.
  • Install, service and repair marine electronics, communications, navigation and electrical systems.
  • Repair, troubleshoot, modify and install various types of marine electronic equipment and related devices such as electronic transmitting and receiving equipment (e.g., radar, radio, television, telecommunication, sonar, and navigational aids); personal and mainframe computers and terminals, industrial, medical, measuring, and controlling equipment; and industrial robotic devices.
  • Apply technical knowledge of electronics principles in determining equipment malfunctions and apply skill in restoring equipment operation, evaluate performance and reliability of prototype or production models and recommend changes in circuitry or installation specifications to simplify assembly and maintenance.
  • Perform electrical work on marine craft.

Work Conditions:

  • May be required to work first shift (0700-1530) or second shift (0830-1700).
  • Work will be performed inside and outside enclosed buildings.
  • Work will include sitting, standing, walking, light lifting, and reaching.
  • May work outside normal hours of operations as mission/fleet support requirements dictate.
  • May require temporary underway periods onboard small craft 20'-100' to evaluate performance of electronic systems.
  • May require climbing, lifting, or standing for extended periods of time in support of mission.
Requirements:

Education/Experience/Skills:

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • U.S. Navy or Coast Guard electronics training is highly desirable.
  • ABYC (American Boat and Yacht Council) Marine Electrical Certification and/or Advanced Marine Electrical Certification - highly desired
  • Minimum of six (6) years of direct military and/or maritime electronics, electrical, or C4I systems repair experience.
  • Excellent written and verbal skills.
  • Must be organized and be able to multi-task.
  • Strong interpersonal skills are required.
  • Ability to work in a team environment.
  • Ability to read, write and interpret technical directives and electronic schematics.
  • Current Driverโ€™s License required; must be able to be insured through companyโ€™s vehicle insurance policy while driving work/government/rental vehicles during working hours, and for the duration of employment.
  • U.S. Citizenship required and you must be able to obtain a U.S. DoD Security Secret Clearance prior to start date and maintain a Secret clearance throughout employment.
  • All candidates will be required to pass background screening to include SSN, Driver Record, and Criminal Background Investigation.
