Job description

Sound Technician/Audio Engineer -

Position Overview

We are seeking a Sound Technician/Audio Engineer with proven experience in the film or television industry. This individual will be responsible for capturing high-quality production sound on setโ€”working closely with directors, producers, and camera teams to ensure audio clarity, continuity, and consistency across all types of shoots.

The ideal candidate is highly skilled in both mixing and boom operation, adaptable to various shooting environments, and capable of managing and troubleshooting on-location sound challenges in real time.

You should be able to set up and operate our sound equipment for all productions and live-event situations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operate provided sound equipment during production, including field mixers, boom mics, wireless lavalier systems, and recorders
  • Capture high-quality dialogue, ambient, and sync sound during interviews, scripted scenes, and documentary shoots
  • Monitor sound levels and adjust inputs to prevent clipping, distortion, or signal loss
  • Mic up talent with discretion and care; manage lav placement, cabling, and concealment
  • Collaborate with the Director, DP, and talent to ensure optimal mic positioning and minimal interference
  • Conduct pre-shoot sound checks and troubleshoot equipment or interference issues quickly
  • Log audio files, label takes, and maintain organized records for post-production
  • Maintain, inventory, and properly store all sound equipment
  • Support post-production by delivering clean, well-documented audio files and field notes

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of professional experience as a production sound mixer or boom operator
  • Proficiency with industry-standard gear (e.g., Zoom F8, Sound Devices mixers, Sennheiser/Lectrosonics wireless, Rode/Deity booms, etc.)
  • Strong understanding of on-location audio mixing, gain structure, and mic techniques
  • Experience working in a variety of production environments (studio, field, run-and-gun, interviews)
  • Knowledge of timecode sync, slating, and best practices for multi-cam shoots
  • Ability to work quickly and quietly on set with minimal disruption
  • Familiarity with post-production workflows and audio formats
  • Must be organized, punctual, and responsive under time-sensitive conditions
  • Ability to lift and carry sound gear; must have valid driverโ€™s license and reliable transportation

Please note: While this evergreen posting remains open, we review applications continuously. If youโ€™re interested, we invite you to apply. We appreciate everyoneโ€™s interest, though only candidates chosen for an interview will back from us.
