Job description

JOB SUMMARY

The Maintenance Worker is responsible for general maintenance of property buildings, grounds and equipment. Ensure the property is both appealing and safe for patrons of the mall.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Maintains grounds and parking lots, performing garbage pick-up, daily litter cleaning each morning, minor routine parking lot repairs, landscaping, mulching, weeding, and other related maintenance activities. Fall and Spring clean-up.
  • Maintains building by performing minor and routine painting, carpentry, plumbing, electrical wiring, tile repair, power washing, and other related maintenance activities.
  • Performs maintenance and repairs on equipment, including small engines.
  • Notifies the supervisor of the need for significant lighting, heating, and ventilating equipment repairs.
  • Maintains motor vehicles (trucks, tractors, salters, and plows).
  • Cleans snow and debris from sidewalks and parking lots using a variety of equipment (training provided). Premium hourly rates apply for equipment operators.
  • Prune trees, trims shrubbery, and cultivate flowers.
  • Minor sidewalk and hardscape repairs.
  • Occasional work inside.
  • Operates power tools and equipment.
  • Must have a valid Driver’s license.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
  • Trade school certification and mechanical repair courses or equivalent experience, a plus.
  • Experience in one or more relevant fields is helpful but not necessary, plumbing, electrical, dry wall, carpentry, small engine repair is a plus.


KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:

  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.

  • Specific vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. 
  • The work environment is indoors and outdoors, frequently exposed to all types of weather conditions. 
  • Occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts; high, precarious places; and risk of electrical shock.
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.


The salary range listed for this position represents the anticipated compensation based on experience and qualifications and may vary depending on internal factors and applicable laws.

Hours are 5:30 AM to 2 pm or 6 AM to 3 PM. Days of work are Wednesday through Sunday with some early morning hours during snow removal. Occasional OT during winter months.
